Location: CHANEL - Toronto, Ontario

Reports to: Head of Marketing

Contract: Full-time and Temporary (7-months contract)

Your role @Chanel:

As a Brand Manager, you will be responsible for being the expert of the given category, including mastery of the market place along with the facts and figures that drive the business. With this expertise, you will be responsible for developing, recommending, and executing policies and strategies for all marketing activities, maintaining a level of financial contribution to meet the objectives of the company. You will capture maximum share of market whilst being the guardian of the Chanel brand image across all activities.

What impact you can create at Chanel:

  • You will set and implement the marketing plan of the different product lines to meet sales target & budget.

  • You will develop the local strategies in terms of products, promotions, retail in-store events, prices and distribution.

  • Regular store visits to stay aware of trends and activities

  • Analysis of monthly NPD data to stay aware of competitor performance

Defining and executing annual brand strategy

Define:

  • Participate in setting goals for market share & growth.

  • Establish and recommend a promotion plan which complies with the international strategy and the CHANEL brand.

  • Identify opportunities for special events or specific product assortment.

  • Develop strong instore retail marketing programs that will ensure brand animation and drive sales in order to achieve visibility and sales goals.

  • Make recommendations on PLV material and promotions.

  • Present and sign off season plan with leadership.

  • Prepare presentations for retailers and national sales teams.

Execute:

  • Develop and implement appropriate strategies by type of distribution and promote products to those markets.

  • With assistance of ABM, produce all local marketing materials, working with suppliers to achieve the best quality whilst respecting the brand budget.

  • Constant re-evaluation of a product’s market potential and performance to adjust promotional strategy.

  • Ensure all product materials are in the marketplace when required and are properly updated.

  • Monitor all promotion expenses in accordance with budgets.

Product Management

  • Be responsible for good forecasting of product demand for the brand.

  • Collaborate to the review and revision of the product forecasts on a monthly basis.

  • Forecast all PLV & promotional material.

  • Report monthly to management on products launches results.

  • Interact with purchasing/forecasting department to ensure proper handling of products.

Budget Management

  • Be responsible for good management of all budgets for the brand.

  • Work to ensure all marketing activities can be realized within current year’s budget, making strategic choices for the brand.

  • Set Y+1 annual budget in conjunction with the Head of Marketing.

  • Ultimate responsibility to ensure accuracy of budget reporting and coding (invoices, purchase requisitions).

Merchandising

  • Work with Merchandising Manager to create unambiguous product display merchandising codes, transmitting guidelines to the field teams.

  • Work together with the Merchandising Manager to plan and execute special event set up or outposts within retail environments, adhering to the image standards of the brand.

Prices

  • In conjunction with Finance, work line by line to determine appropriate pricing for new and basic product.

  • Conduct regular competition studies.

Leadership, Management and Motivation

  • Management of Assistant Brand Manager

Coach and train direct report(s) on the job to develop their experience and skill levels

What you will bring to the role:

  • 5 + years of experience in a similar role

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in Business and/or Marketing

Experience in the cosmetics and/or luxury retail industry

Strong computer and analytical skills

Organized, structured and capable of prioritizing the workload

Excellent communication and follow-up skills

Bilingual (English and French), strong asset
