What You Will Do:
- Perform servicing, overhauling, and repair of MaK medium speed engines and system components during major overhauling both on board vessels and in power plant environments which includes but not limited to cylinder heads, cylinder liners, fuel injection pumps, injectors, coolant and oil pumps, pistons, connecting rods, turbochargers etc.
- Able to work as part of a team or independently during major overhauling serving both at customer site and in the workshop whilst adhering to health and safety practices.
- Ensure use of LOTO (lock out tag out systems) and permit to work procedures to ensure all safety procedures are in place prior to work commencement.
- Able to safely operate various equipment such as hydraulic bolt stretching, lathe, milling, cutting, grinding, honing, lapping, heating, lifting, and hoisting etc.
- Performs precision measuring and calibration of engine parts and components to a high degree of accuracy using micrometers, dial indicators, gauges, Vernier gauges, feeler gauges etc., both at customer site and in the workshop.
- Able to prepare detailed service reports.
- Performs inspection, testing and analysis of various engine components and parts to determine condition. Able to use crack testing equipment.
- Perform replacement of parts and assemblies without supervision.
- Reassembles engine components and carries out required quality assurance testing.
- Follows defined workflow processes.
- Performs work from service manuals, maintenance manuals, technical information and equipment schematics.
- Able to read and understand Engine manuals, system drawings and maintenance job cards to ensure correct procedures are followed.
- Performs failure analysis and troubleshooting and applying own experience and good judgement.
- Be able to operate all workshop equipment safely for intended purpose.
- Communicates verbally and in writing in an effective manner with technical staff, other employees and customers.
What You Will Have:
- 5S Housekeeping: Knowledge of 5S Housekeeping concepts; ability to design, implement and sustain 5S housekeeping strategies to ensure standardization of workplace operations.
- Problem Solving: Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.
- Service Excellence: Knowledge of customer service concepts and techniques; ability to meet or exceed customer needs and expectations and provide excellent service in a direct or indirect manner.
- Mechanical/Machinery: Knowledge of machines and tools; ability to use knowledge of machinery or mechanical objects including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
- Technical Troubleshooting: Knowledge of technical troubleshooting approaches, tools, and techniques; ability to anticipate, recognize, and resolve technical issues on hardware, software, application, or operation.
- Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.
- Planning and Organizing: Knowledge of the process of planning and arranging tasks and resources; ability to plan and organize both time and resources to get things completed while structuring and maintaining work in a systematic and highly methodical way.
- Total Productive Maintenance (TPM): Knowledge of total productive maintenance principles, methods, and processes; ability to maximize machinery effectiveness through active involvement of all supporting departments.
Top Candidates Must Also Have: (Qualification)
- 5-years of experience in similar marine or similar large medium speed engine component workshop servicing and repair, machining, or equivalent experience or schooling.
- 5-years of experience in field service work in marine or powerplant environments.
- Trouble shooting capability of diesel engine auxiliary systems, such as coolant and lubricating oil systems.
- Needs to demonstrate good mechanical comprehension and strong communication skills with technical staff, customers and fellow employees.
- Basic electrical knowledge and use of basic diagnostic equipment.
- Must have good computer skills for writing detailed technical service reports and recording calibration records.
- Must have knowledge and experience of LOTO (lock out tag out) and permit to work procedures.
- Must be able to speak, read, and write in English.
Desirable Capabilities:
- Experience with Governor and control systems such as RE and Woodward.
- UAE Driving License.
Additional Information:
- This role will likely be 60% field work and 40% Workshop work with field work travel being a mix of within the UAE and internationally.
- This requisition represents two openings for the same role.
