Job Description:
The Field Representative Development Program (1–3 years) is designed to build the technical, commercial, and leadership capabilities needed to partner with Caterpillar Dealers and support customer success across Latin America.
The program includes:
-
A 13‑week onboarding and training experience in Peoria, Illinois, focused on technical learning, soft skills, business acumen and consulting with dealers.
-
Rotational assignments across Latin American locations where you will learn Caterpillar’s products, services, dealer operations and business strategy.

A transition into a field‑based Representative role, equipped with the knowledge and experience needed to influence dealer performance and drive customer loyalty.
Areas of the Program
As part of the Field Representative Development Program, candidates may be placed into one of the following business areas. Each track offers a focused developmental experience and prepares you for a future field‑based role supporting Caterpillar Dealers and customers.
1. Customer Solutions- Construction Industries – (CS/CI): Gain hands‑on experience across key Construction Industries product families, including Excavators, Dozers, Wheel Loaders, Motor Graders and Articulated Trucks.
You will learn product application, customer solutions, and how to support dealers in sales, service and growth initiatives. Graduates move into a field supporting CI product families.
- Americas Distribution Services Division (ADSD): ADSD oversees governance and performance of Cat® dealers across the U.S., Canada and Latin America.
This rotation focuses on dealer portfolio management, segment growth, capability development and cost‑to‑serve optimization. It develops strong analytical, strategic and dealer‑engagement skills for field assignments.
- Construction Industries – Paving Industry: This track provides exposure to Paving product families, including Pavers, S‑Coms, U‑Coms, Cold Planers and Road Reclaimers.
You will learn product application, provide dealer support in sales and technical guidance, and contribute to strategy and product‑support initiatives. Graduates support Paving dealers in regional field roles.
Cat Digital – Digital Adoption Representative (DAR): This specialization places candidates at the forefront of Caterpillar’s digital transformation.
You will drive adoption of digital solutions across the dealer network, enable technology‑based customer experiences, support high‑impact digital initiatives, and work cross‑functionally to enhance data usage and connectivity. Ideal for candidates passionate about innovation and digital enablement.
What You Will Do:

Build foundational knowledge of Caterpillar, its products, services and customers.
-
Grow personally and professionally through soft skills development and hands-on technical training.

Collaborate with experts in product development, dealer management, marketing, and sales, etc.

Work in various rotational assignments throughout the Marine division, learning strategy, services and products
-
Ultimately, manage assigned territory and serve as a connection between dealers and Caterpillar.
What You Have:
Customer Focus: Knowledge of the values and practices that align customer needs and satisfaction as primary considerations in all business decisions and ability to leverage that information in creating customized customer solutions.
Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.
Problem Solving: Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.
Relationship Management: Knowledge of relationship management techniques; ability to establish and maintain healthy working relationships with clients, vendors, and peers.
Value Selling: Knowledge of the principles and practices for selling products, technology and services; ability to provide overall product/service 'value' and to differentiate support offerings that address clearly understood customer needs.

Each person hired into the Field Representative Development Program is assigned a coach to help guide your progression through the Program. You will receive personalized onboarding, soft-skills, sales and technical training specific to your field assignments, and participate in a variety of rotations across the business to ensure you have the means necessary to achieve your career goals.
