As a Manager of Digital Service Delivery in Cat Digital's Vendor Management Office, you will have the opportunity to support and manage our procurement activities, maintain strong relationships with our vendors, both locally and globally. You will play a crucial role in optimizing our procurement processes, negotiating contracts, and ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery of goods and services. You will assist in the management of our vendor portfolio, to drive operational efficiency and achieve organizational goals.
What You Will Do:
This role is a Leader in the Cat Digital Vendor Management Office. The role works with internal stakeholders and customers to determine business needs and requirements for outsourced services and tools that help to meet internal goals. The role manages policies, practices, and operations for the selection, negotiation, and purchasing and/or licensing of external technology products and services and provides ongoing management of vendor companies. Responsibilities include:
- Negotiating, extending, terminating, and renegotiating contracts for the acquisition of equipment, materials, products, or services.
- Working with Caterpillar Indirect Purchasing to finalize and execute vendor contracts.
- Conducting analyses of existing vendor networks to assess their capability of meeting business objectives; recommending new vendors in terms of capacity.
- Developing and implementing processes and tools for different types of contracts, risk assessments, disputes, and issue resolutions, etc.
- Arbitration of claims or complaints occurring under the performance of contracts.
What You Have (Basic Requirements):
Negotiating: Extensive knowledge and experience with successful negotiation concepts and techniques; ability to negotiate successfully across the organization and with external vendors and clients in a constructive and collaborative manner.Ensures negotiators have awareness of complementary yet diverse interests.
- Successfully completes significant negotiations, both internal and external.
- Details the risks of negotiation breakdown from each party's perspective.
- Protects own position, while demonstrating willingness to achieve win-win.
- Identifies similarities and differences in position and assesses impact on discussions.
- Detects and addresses progress or a stalemate.
Relationship Management: Extensive knowledge and experience with relationship management techniques; ability to establish and maintain healthy working relationships with clients, vendors, peers and Director / VP level stakeholders.
- Provides prompt and effective responses to client requests and interactions.
- Monitors client satisfaction levels on a regular basis.
- Alerts own team to problems in client satisfaction.
- Differentiates the roles and responsibilities in a business relationship.
- Works with clients to address critical issues and resolve major problems.
Consulting: Knowledge and experience with techniques, roles, and responsibilities in providing technical or business guidance to clients, both internal and external; ability to apply consulting knowledge appropriately.
- Analyzes and fully documents client requirements.
- Applies experience to developing and executing multiple consulting assignments.
- Works with client to identify alternative solutions and associated pro's and con's.
- Prepares executive level proposals and presentations for a consulting opportunity.
- Manages all aspects and phases of a consulting relationship.
- Monitors consulting assignments versus expectations.
Contracts Review and Management: Extensive knowledge and experience with contractual and legal matters related to expenditures (consulting services, maintenance agreements, acquisitions, outsourcing, etc.); ability to evaluate, interpret and improve the language used in contractual agreements.
- Coaches others on advanced methods and operational considerations of contract reviews.
- Provides appropriate solutions to complex contract problems.
- Reviews and ensures compliance with relevant organizational and legal policies and procedures.
- Implements proper evaluation and interpretation of the language used in contracts.
- Increases the accuracy and efficiency of contract reviews through process improvement.
- Assists in designing criteria for reviewing organizational contracts.
- Administers locally relevant contracts for the department.
- Implements organizational protocols and procedures for contracts management.
Project and Program Management: Extensive knowledge and experience with effective project / program management strategies and tactics; ability to plan, organize, monitor, and control projects, ensuring efficient utilization of technical and administrative resources to achieve project objectives.
- Utilizes preferred tools, techniques and methods for estimating project / program cost and time.
- Plans, estimates, staffs, organizes and monitors significant projects / programs.
- Identifies risks and vulnerabilities; creates contingency plans.
- Conducts regular and ad-hoc project reviews with project / program team, sponsors, and clients.
- Maintains open communication among project participants and interested parties.
- Communicates reporting requirements; creates monitoring and control mechanisms.
What Will Set You Apart (Preferred Qualifications):
Anything needed outside of the skills that would make someone a top candidate.
- Experience effectively communicating with and presenting to Executive Level Stakeholders such as Directors and VPs on a regular basis.
- Experience directly managing small to medium sized teams and influencing other teams in a matrix environment.
- Knowledge of Product and Vendor Evaluation; ability to implement processes for the evaluation and selection of products, tools, services and infrastructure components ensuring they are in line with an organization's business needs and architectural principles.
- Experience working with Purchasing groups to finalize and execute contracts.
- Knowledge of Software Licensing legal practices, considerations and management of software licensing; ability to implement, support and update software licensing processes.
Summary Pay Range:
$147,760.00 - $221,640.00
Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
