Location: Solihull, West Midlands or Peterlee, Durham

Hours: Full Time

Travel: The position travels extensively; with travel customers/dealers across the UK and internationally.

As a Fleet Manager you are responsible for supporting and fulfilling specific contractual commitments in a profitable manner predominantly in the UK and potentially other Europe, Africa and Middle East territories. These commitments include specific deliverables in equipment management, production optimization, safety, sustainability, and financial performance.

The Fleet Manager will work directly with customers (and Dealers) Executive Management, Plant Management and Equipment Operators and have primary responsibility for managing the Dealer partnership assuring strong relations and profitable Dealer results.

Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Leading the customer engagements and providing matrix leadership for contract execution

  • Achieving alignment of various parties at Caterpillar, Dealers, and key end-user personnel

  • Partnering with Dealer personnel to direct the day-to-day activity related to contractual commitments at each site contract

  • Successfully delivering on all areas of contractual commitments by utilizing a complete understanding of Caterpillar and Dealer Capability

  • Providing a clear vision for success and drive high levels of execution to achieve our commitments through your deep subject matter expertise in equipment management, production optimization, safety, sustainability, and financial structuring

  • Providing and applying solutions to problems in a customer-working environment

  • Working with Caterpillar Product Groups and other internal Business Units to completely understand the technical and operational capabilities of our equipment, technology, and services

  • Creating innovative new value-added capabilities to improve site operations in a manner that Caterpillar and Dealers can grow profitability and reduce risk

What skills/experience you will have:

Customer Focus: Knowledge of the values and practices that align customer needs and satisfaction as primary considerations in all business decisions and ability to leverage that information in creating customized customer solutions.

Products and Services: Knowledge of major products and services and product and service groups; ability to apply knowledge of product and service appropriately to diverse situations.

Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.

Relationship Management: Knowledge of relationship management techniques; ability to establish and maintain healthy working relationships with clients, vendors, and peers.

Technical Excellence: Knowledge of a given technology and various application methods; ability to develop and provide solutions to significant technical challenges.

Value Selling: Knowledge of the principles and practices for selling products, technology and services; ability to provide overall product/service 'value' and to differentiate support offerings that address clearly understood customer needs.

Top Candidates will have:

  • Bachelor's Degree or progressive experience in a direct customer sales/product support/direct field experience

  • Experience working with / for Caterpillar Dealers and/or Customers is advantageous

  • Proven direct customer sales/product support experience

  • Working knowledge of technology products, financial products, machines, product support, labour relations, safety and environment operations

  • Superior relationship building skills and the ability to execute through a team of Caterpillar, dealer, and customer personnel

  • Superior communication skills – both written and verbal – that range from operational and technical discussions to Dealer Principal and Executive presentations

  • Demonstrate deep subject matter expertise and experience in the management of equipment fleets or direct responsibility for maintenance & repair contract management

  • Deep product knowledge, application experience with equipment and production technologies, and the ability to successfully manage contracts to profitability
