The opportunity

The Training & Commissioning Manager is a team orientated leadership position and is part of our expanding global Product Support organisation. You will work to lead and support the FG Wilson distribution and dealer network, providing and delivering strategies and the operational delivery of the genset training & commissioning offering for the FG Wilson brand.

The Training & Commissioning Manager is responsible for leading generator set commissioning excellence while developing technical capability across engineers, technicians, and distribution partners. The role ensures genset end users are not only appropriately trained but FG Wilson genset and systems are commissioned safely, correctly, and consistently, while building a structured training and certification framework to support long-term service quality and customer satisfaction

This is a hands-on leadership role combining technical authority, field coaching, and capability development.

What you will do:

  • Provide technical leadership and mentoring to commissioning engineers and trainers.
  • Support onboarding and development of new trainers/ internal and dealer staff/ roles as appropriate.
  • Act as the technical authority between engineering, service, projects, and sales.
  • Own and govern FG Wilson genset training & commissioning standards, procedures, and best practices.

What you have:

Technical Excellence

  • Extensive, hands-on experience of diesel generator sets
  • Proven background in generator synchronization, load testing, protection systems, and controls.
  • Experience leading or mentoring engineers in a field or technical environment.

Customer Focus:

  • Comfortable working across a broad range of customers with complex and individual needs as well as internal partners and stakeholders.
  • Communicates the importance of customer needs/expectations and commits to resolving them.
  • Solicits customer satisfaction feedback and acts on improvement opportunities.
  • Meets regularly with customers to understand their wants, needs and expectations.

Effective Communications:

  • Ability to translate needs such as commissioning issues and needs into effective training plans/ programs

Service Excellence:

  • Ability to resolve common customer problems and respond to unexpected customer/dealer requests with a sense of urgency and positive action.
  • Provides direct service to internal or external customers.

Relationship Management

  • Provides prompt and effective responses to client requests and interactions.
  • Monitors client satisfaction levels on a regular basis.
  • Alerts own team to problems in client satisfaction.
  • Works with customers/dealers to address critical issues and resolve major problems.

Education:

  • Degree in Engineering or equivalent (Electrical or Mechanical preferred) or a demonstrable proven progressive experience

Top candidates will have:

  • Genset commissioning certifications
  • Train-the-Trainer or adult learning qualification

Additional information:

  • There is up to 25% travel requirement for this role.
