Role Definition:
Caterpillar Digital’s Platform team is seeking a Technical Product Manager responsible for defining, prioritizing, and managing application requirements for digital products built on Caterpillar’s Helios platform, ensuring alignment between business needs, technical capabilities, and platform best practices. This role requires working with cross functional teams delivering technical solutions solving business problems of Caterpillar’s customers.
Responsibilities:
- The role involves defining, planning, and coordinating product requirements that meet customers’ needs and quality objectives.
- You will lead the development priorities for cross-functional delivery teams and be responsible for meeting customer satisfaction.
- Coordination and delivery of product development activities, including functional (Requirements, E2E Validation) and non-functional activities (Product Regulations and Compliance, Documentation, Product Support).
- Work closely with business team to define product requirements based on the market needs
- Manage product backlog and development prioritization, in accordance with business priorities and quality expectations.
- Work closely with engineering teams and Architects to develop technical solutions.
Experience
7-8 years of job-related experience in managing Platform Services to build customer facing product
4 years of experience in product development processes and product life-cycle management.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in an accredited Engineering, Information Technologies, or Computer Science.
- Demonstrated ability to understand and articulate product capability and application knowledge.
- Demonstrated knowledge of IT and IoT technology.
- Proven team leadership skills, with direct and indirect resources.
- Good human relations and communication skills to develop a cooperative work relationship with customers, dealers, internal development partners, as well as field business development organizations.
- Equipment maintenance and reliability knowledge.
- Knowledge of AWS, platform engineering concepts (microservices, APIs, authentication, observability, cloud foundations)
- Ability to read and understand system design diagrams, integration flows, and data models.
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and deployment workflows.
- Understanding service-level concepts (SLAs, SLOs, SLIs, latency, throughput).
- Ability to build strong working relations with global teams and resources of multiple cultures.
- Experience working with platform products such as, API gateway, Identity & access management, Logging & monitoring platforms, Container platforms (Kubernetes), Messaging/streaming (Kafka, MQTT), ability to align application requirements with platform capabilities and constraints.
- Experience with defining system requirements.
- Ability to initiate and take independent action.
- Ability to plan, prioritize and organize.
- Demonstrated performance to very high work standards.
- Flexible schedule to attend and drive meetings with global development and business partners.
