About the role

Carrier’s Digital Sales and Service (DSS) Center of Excellence (COE) team is enabling higher digital customer experience capabilities throughout the enterprise. Through centralized investment in technology, talent, and business transformation the team aims to solidify Carrier’s position as a leader in sales enablement, service, digital commerce spaces.

This person will collaborate and work closely with the DSS COE product, engineering, and implementation teams to meet roadmap and new initiative commitments. This involves understanding the requirements thoroughly, gauging impact on current modules/functionalities and supporting the delivery of technical initiatives with focus on quality assurance and bug free deliverables, within specific timeframes and budgets.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Support digital PODs in developing scalable, modular e-commerce solutions across channels, leveraging enterprise commerce platforms, third-party system integrations, and tailored capabilities for individual business units, with attention to overall solution architecture.

• Build knowledge of business processes with an expectation for facilitating continuous improvement and ensuring alignment with the broader commerce architecture.

• Communicate issues impacting daily operations to the business team, providing solutions and updates on resolution while considering architectural impacts.

• Design, build, and manage custom themes, features, and apps for Shopify stores, ensuring they adhere to scalable and maintainable architectural principles.

• Proficient in frontend skillset along with Shopify-specific technologies, with an understanding of how frontend components interact with backend services and APIs.

• Write clean, optimized code using the Hydrogen framework and components to implement custom business requirements within a robust architectural structure.

• Integrate with GraphQL and Storefront APIs to fetch and display data efficiently, maintaining proper separation of concerns and reusable architecture patterns.

• Support the integration (middleware) team by providing correct mutations/mapping for data synchronization between Shopify and ERP, PIM, Payment Gateways, and Marketing systems, ensuring end-to-end data flow integrity.

• Ability to debug and troubleshoot issues related to features, functionalities, and integrations while considering system dependencies and architectural constraints.

• Experience working on global, multi-year initiatives with cross-functional teams.

• Self-starter with the ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

• Knowledge of best practices across ecommerce, version control and continuous upgrades(API/codebase).

• Strong understanding of Shopify app ecosystem and capability to evaluate, customize, or develop apps to extend platform functionality.

• Experience managing Shopify launches, upgrades, and migrations across production and staging environments.

• Proven ability to work within globally distributed virtual teams, contribute to projects and deliver results in a diverse, global stakeholder environment

• Strong analytical, strategic, and creative problem-solving skills.

• Team player with a positive, collaborative work ethic.

Requirements:

• 6+ years of professional supporting enterprise-level engineering teams.

• 4+ years of experience working with Shopify, Shopify Plus, Magento, or similar enterprise Ecommerce applications.

• Deep understanding of the Shopify ecosystem, including Shopify Plus features, APIs, and Liquid.

• Strong hands-on development skills, often including technologies like JavaScript, React, and GraphQL.

• Proven experience in technical leadership and exposure working with cross functional teams.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

• Experience with Agile methodologies, such as participating in sprint planning.

Shopify Skillset

• Front-end technologies: Knowledge of React.js, JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3 is fundamental, since Hydrogen is a React framework.

• APIs: Understanding and exposure to Shopify Storefront API and GraphQL mutations/queries to fetch and manipulate data.

• Frameworks: Remix.run, since Hydrogen uses.

• Headless architecture: Knowledge of headless commerce principles.

• Hands-on experience with Shopify Storefront API and GraphQL queries and mutations for product, cart, checkout, and customer data.

• Version Control: Hands on experience working with version controlled codebase, e.g. GitHub.

• Experience configuring Shopify B2B features such as company profiles, catalogs, pricing, and customer-specific access.

• Shopify: Shopify Plus exposure & liquid templating language, Shopify Custom Apps and Extensions, Hydrogen components, tools and Shopify CLI. Deep knowledge and hands on experience working with Shopify Metafields and Metaobjects. Exposure to B2B set up.
