This position is in our Food Enterprise where we are committed to serving food manufacturers, food service customers, and retailers with a complete range of innovative ingredients and branded products. Our portfolio includes poultry, beef, egg, alternative protein, salt, oils, starches, sweeteners, cocoa and chocolate.
Job Purpose and Impact:
The Food Scientist will provide technical expertise to new product development for product line growth and technology and process development for the creation of new capabilities. In this role, you will coordinate with other scientists to innovate new product development by identifying and implementing technical solutions to meet business goals. You will be partnering with customers and other cross-functional teams to ensure efficient and customer-focused product delivery.
- Key Accountabilities
- Identify product growth and new product opportunities.
- Analyze and interpret market data to take advantage of opportunities and minimize adverse trends.
- Stay abreast of current literature and analytical advancements.
- Provide technical guidance and leadership on products, process development and improvement, quality systems and regulatory oversight.
- Partner and stay connected with cross functional teams that include marketing, insights, sales, ops, food safety quality and regulatory.
- Provide findings and analysis with insights, research and commercial brand to develop short- and long-term testing programs for experimental and commercial products and hybrids.
- Collaborate and build partnership with sales, business management and marketing partners to identify customer needs and translate these into new product development opportunities.
- Independently solve moderately complex issues with minimal supervision, while escalating more complex issues to appropriate staff.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience

Two years of relevant work experience or a Master's degree.

Ability to work in a cold environment and lift up to 30 lb.

Ability to travel up to 30%

Preferred Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Meat Science, Food Science, or Animal Science

Master's degree or other post-secondary degree
-
Two or more years combined professional experience in the following areas: cooked protein formulation development, ingredient functionality, sensory, and product commercialization

Tech-savvy and comfortable with evolving business-critical technology
-
Strategic thinker with ability to build effective plans to support strategic initiatives
-
Experience working in a manufacturing environment
-
Experience working successfully in a matrixed organization
-
Operations experience
-
Experience with experimental design, statistical modeling, and interpretation of data.
Compensation Data:
The expected salary for this position is approximately $75,000 to $100,000. Compensation varies depending on a wide array of factors including but not limited to the specific location, certifications, education, and level of experience. The disclosed range estimate may be adjusted for any applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. This position is eligible for a discretionary incentive award. The incentive award amount is dependent upon company performance and your personal.
