Job Purpose and Impact

The Service Now Senior Platform Engineer will play a critical role in designing, developing, and maintaining Cargill's Service Now platform to deliver scalable and reliable enterprise solutions. This position is responsible for implementing advanced configurations, integrations, and automation within Service Now to support IT Service Management (ITSM), IT Operations Management (ITOM), and other enterprise workflows. The engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the platform meets business needs, adheres to best practices, and drives operational efficiency across global technology services.
As a senior technical expert, this role will lead complex development initiatives, optimize platform performance, and ensure compliance with governance and security standards. The engineer will also mentor junior team members, contribute to architectural decisions, and champion continuous improvement to enhance user experience and system resilience. By leveraging deep technical expertise and innovative problem-solving, the Senior Platform Engineer ensures Cargill's Service Now environment remains robust, agile, and aligned with strategic objectives.

• Key Accountabilities

• SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT: Designs and develops high-quality software solutions by writing clean, maintainable, and efficient code.

• AUTOMATION: Leads the application of internal software deployment platforms, continuous integration or continuous delivery pipelines, and twelve-factor development methodology to automate the deployment process, ensuring smooth and reliable releases.

• COLLABORATION: Partners with cross-functional teams of product managers, designers, and other engineers to gather complex requirements and deliver solutions that meet business needs.

• TESTING & DEBUGGING: Writes and maintains complex unit tests and integration tests, and performs debugging to maintain the quality and performance of the software, applying test-driven development as needed.

• CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT: Recommends options for improving the software development and deployment processes, and implements the approved standards to improve efficiency and reliability.

• DOCUMENTATION: Creates and maintains comprehensive documentation for complex software applications, deployment processes, and system configurations.

• TECHNICAL SUPPORT: Provides technical support and troubleshooting for complex issues with deployed applications to ensure minimal downtime and fast resolution.

• Service Now Platform Management: Administer and maintain the Service Now platform, including configuration, customization, and integration with other systems.

• Service Now Development: Develop and implement new Service Now modules, applications, and workflows to meet business requirements.

• Service Now Automation: Utilize Service Now's automation capabilities to streamline processes and improve efficiency.

• Service Now Upgrades: Plan and execute Service Now platform upgrades, ensuring minimal disruption to users and maintaining compatibility with existing customizations.

• Service Now Best Practices: Ensure adherence to Service Now best practices and standards in all development and administration activities.

• Service Now Training & Support: Provide training and support to end-users and other stakeholders on Service Now functionalities and features.

Qualifications:
