Join the team redefining how the world experiences design. Hey, g’day, mabuhay, kia ora, 你好, hallo, vítejte! Thanks for stopping by. We know job hunting can be a little time consuming and you’re probably keen to find out what’s on offer, so we’ll get straight to the point. Where and how you can work Our flagship campus is in Sydney, with campuses in Melbourne and co-working spaces across Australia. As we continue to grow globally, we’re expanding our presence in Indonesia. This role is based in Jakarta, Indonesia. We trust our Canvanauts to choose the balance that empowers them and their team to achieve their goals, while collaborating closely with global teams across time zones. What you’d be doing in this role As Canva scales, change continues to be part of our DNA. But we like to think that’s all part of the fun. This role will give you the flavour of the type of things you’ll be working on when you start — but it will likely evolve. As a Social Design Lead – Templates, you’ll shape how millions of users create social-first content inside Canva. You won’t just design beautiful assets — you’ll design systems, storytelling structures, and trend-driven templates that empower everyday creators to produce high-performing content across social media platforms. At the moment, this role is focused on: - Designing short-form, social-first templates for platforms like TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts, and others - Translating global design and social media trends into usable, customisable Canva templates - Building repeatable storytelling frameworks — hooks, transitions, pacing, and visual sequences that reflect real platform behaviour - Creating motion-aware, mobile-first design systems that balance craft, scalability, and performance - Collaborating closely with Content Studio, Product, and Video teams to showcase Canva’s latest editing and video capabilities - Contributing to trend forecasting, creative reviews, and experimentation across video, motion, and AI-assisted content You’re probably a match if - You have strong graphic design experience, with a portfolio that demonstrates high craft across digital and motion-based formats - You deeply understand global design and social media trends — not just what’s trending, but why it performs - You have excellent social media fluency and understand platform behaviours, storytelling patterns, and audience psychology (you don’t need to be an influencer — but you do understand the ecosystem) - You’re confident designing for video, motion, and mobile-first formats - You can turn cultural trends into scalable template systems that non-experts can easily customise - You’re collaborative, fast-moving, and excited by empowering millions of people to tell their stories About the team The Content Studio team within the Global Content & Discovery supergroup is on a mission to empower the world to design. We create world-class templates and creative assets that inspire users, unlock new use cases, and showcase the best of Canva’s product capabilities. We work at the intersection of culture, creativity, and product — partnering closely with teams across Video, Editing, AI, and Discovery to ensure Canva stays at the forefront of visual communication globally. What’s in it for you? Achieving our crazy big goals motivates us to work hard — and we do — but you’ll experience lots of moments of magic, connectivity and fun woven throughout life at Canva, too. Here’s a taste of what’s on offer: - Equity packages — we want our success to be yours too - Inclusive parental leave policy that supports all parents & carers - Vibe & Thrive allowance to support your wellbeing, social connection, office setup & more - Flexible leave options that empower you to recharge and be a force for good Check out lifeatcanva.com for more info. Other stuff to know We make hiring decisions based on your experience, skills and passion, as well as how you can enhance Canva and our culture. When you apply, please tell us the pronouns you use and any reasonable adjustments you may need during the interview process. We celebrate all types of skills and backgrounds at Canva — so even if you don’t feel like your skills quite match what’s listed above, we still want to hear from you. Please note that interviews are conducted virtually Kindly attach link to your porfolio. If it is guardrailed by a password, kindly add your PW to the cover letter. Thank you!
