About the Team
Corporate Accounting is all about running a fast, accurate, and efficient close process while keeping things compliant, scalable, and always improving. We're building the finance foundations to support Canva's growth and long-term success. We focus on simplifying processes, leveraging automation, and using technology and AI to make accounting smarter and more efficient. As Canva grows, so does our financial complexity, and our team plays a key role in keeping our financials accurate, timely, and reliable. Beyond the numbers, we partner with teams across Canva to simplify financial processes and provide insights that drive better decision-making.
What you’d be doing in this role
We are looking for an Accountant to join the Corporate Accounting team to help support our ever changing accounting operations. In this role, you’ll be responsible for supporting the company’s financial reporting and close processes, ensuring accurate and timely accounting records in accordance with US GAAP and company policies. This role plays a key part in maintaining the integrity of our general ledger, preparing financial analyses, and supporting audits and compliance requirements.
What you’ll do:
- Prepare and record monthly journal entries in accordance with US GAAP and IFRS.
- Perform account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Support the monthly close process, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and adherence to deadlines.
- Analyze variances and investigate unusual trends and transactions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (FP&A, Tax, AP, Treasury) to ensure accurate financial reporting while maintaining a streamlined and scalable process that supports business growth.
- Identify opportunities for process optimization and automation within your areas, implementing best practices to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Act as a key accounting partner to FP&A and the Marketing organization to understand marketing spend, campaign investments, and forecasting assumptions, ensuring accurate accounting treatment, accruals, and insights throughout the close cycle.
- Act as the Accounting lead on projects to improve our financial data, speed up the close process while not compromising quality of results
You’re probably a match if:
- You have a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
- You have experience in corporate accounting, financial reporting, and operational finance—ideally in a high-growth or public company.
- You have an understanding of US GAAP, SOX compliance, and internal controls.
- You come with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with internal and external partners.
- You have a growth mindset and a passion for automation, technology, and improving processes.
- You have experience working with ERP systems (bonus points for Net Suite!).
- You’re comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving environment and enjoy partnering with stakeholders to solve problems and improve processes
