The Opportunity:

CACI is excited to announce an opportunity for a Part-Time, Senior Fire Protection Engineer to join our dynamic team on-site at our Bethesda location. This role is ideal for a seasoned professional with a robust background in fire protection engineering, particularly someone with experience in Department of Defense (DoD) and Navy construction projects.

Responsibilities:

Design and Analysis:

  • Develop and review fire protection system designs in accordance with OPNAVINST 11320.23G.
  • Perform hydraulic calculations and analyses for fire protection systems.

Compliance and Codes:

  • Ensure all designs and installations comply with OPNAVINST 11320.23G, NFPA standards, and other relevant fire protection codes.
  • Stay updated on changes in fire protection regulations and codes.

Project Management:

  • Collaborate with project teams to integrate fire protection systems into overall project plans for Navy infrastructure and buildings.
  • Provide technical support and guidance during the installation and commissioning phases.

Documentation:

  • Prepare detailed engineering reports, specifications, and drawings in compliance with OPNAVINST 11320.23G.

  • Maintain accurate records of all fire protection system designs and modifications.

  • Consultation

  • Offer expert advice on fire protection strategies and solutions to internal and external stakeholders, including Navy personnel.

  • Training and Education

  • Develop and deliver training programs for Navy personnel on fire safety and protection in accordance with OPNAVINST 11320.23G.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Registered Professional Engineer (PE) in Fire Protection.
  • Degree in Fire Protection Engineering
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in fire protection engineering.
  • Strong understanding of fire protection codes and standards, including OPNAVINST 11320.23G.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

Desired:

  • Experience with AutoCAD or other drafting software.
  • Knowledge of hydraulic modeling software (e.g., Hydraflow, Flow Master).
  • Previous experience in a similar role within the Navy or supporting Navy infrastructure and buildings.
