The Opportunity:CACI is seeking a motivated Mechanical Engineering Intern to support the design, fabrication, integration, and testing of mechanical systems associated with unmanned aerial systems (UAS) and related mission platforms. This internship provides hands-on experience in a fast-paced prototyping and production environment where designs move quickly from concept to build to operational use. The intern will work alongside experienced engineers and technicians supporting real-world engineering efforts across multiple active projects.

Responsibilities:

• Assist in the design and modification of mechanical components and assemblies
• Develop and update 3D models and detailed drawings using CAD software
• Support fabrication, fit checks, and mechanical integration activities
• Participate in tolerance analysis and basic structural evaluations
• Assist with development of build documentation and assembly instructions
• Support ground testing and validation of mechanical assemblies
• Help troubleshoot mechanical issues and support root cause analysis efforts
• Assist in maintaining engineering documentation and configuration control
• Collaborate with electrical, aerospace, and systems teams during integration efforts

Qualifications:

Required:

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related field
• Experience with 3D CAD modeling software
• Foundational understanding of mechanics, materials, and manufacturing principles
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work in a hands-on lab and fabrication environment
• Strong communication skills and willingness to learn
• Ability to obtain and maintain SECRET security clearance

Desired:

• Experience with prototyping, fabrication, or machine shop environments

• Familiarity with composite materials or additive manufacturing

• Exposure to structural analysis or FEA tools

• Prior internship, lab research, or engineering project team experience

The proposed salary range for this position is:

$39,900-$79,900
