Buzz Feed, Inc. (Nasdaq: BZFD) is home to the best of the internet with a mission to spread joy and truth. Across entertainment, news, food, pop culture, and commerce, our brands drive conversation and inspire what audiences watch, read, and buy now — and into the future. Born on the internet in 2006, Buzz Feed, Inc. is committed to improving it: providing trusted, quality, brand-safe entertainment to hundreds of millions of people; making content on the internet more inclusive, empathetic, and creative; and inspiring our audience to live better lives.

Business Area: Content

Job Category: Editorial

Hourly: $20.00 an hour

Union Status: Non**-**Union

Buzz Feed Inc. is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. We reserve the ability to adjust the final compensation for this role based on the final candidate's experience, skillset, certifications, and geography.

Are you the type of person who is always discovering bizarre kitchen gadgets, coupon codes, or interesting stores and sending links to your friends until they beg you to stop?

We want to hear from you!Buzz Feed is looking for shopping- and products-focused writers for paid, three-month, full-time fellowship roles (with the possibility to extend and/or convert to a permanent position). Buzz Feed's shopping section is an expanding editorial endeavor that includes both service-oriented and entertaining content for a shopping-minded audience (see our “Shopping” page for examples).

The Community You Will Join

The Buzz Feed Shopping & Products Fellowship is a program for aspiring and hungry writers eager to hone their skills and to learn by doing. The program is a crash course in how to help our audience discover deals and great products through themed roundups and more.

You should have enough shopping knowledge to discover and share products and deals, and enough of a low-key (or high-key) internet obsession to quickly find, drive, and react to current trends. You’re just as comfortable writing about a product you love yourself as digging into reviews to find out which viral skincare products actually work or unearthing quirky kitchen gadgets people haven’t seen before.

Fellows will work with and learn from members of the Buzz Feed Shopping team. You won’t be running errands for senior staff or transcribing someone else’s interviews; you will be pitching ideas, brainstorming, collaborating on non-writing projects, and writing dozens of stories that will be published to Buzz Feed.com and promoted across our social channels. The Fellowship is fun and inspiring, but also fast-paced and challenging.

This is a paid position (starting at $20/hour). The Fellowship allows candidates to work fully remote from select locations, but we also have monthly in-office days at our New York office. We have an office in Los Angeles for local residents.

Applications are being considered on a rolling basis, but all applications must be submitted by March 27th, 2025, by 5 PM EST. All application materials must be submitted when you apply. The intended (and tentative) start date for this Fellowship is Tuesday, June 9th, 2026.

A Typical Day

  • Research products in various categories and price points that are of interest to the Buzz Feed audience.

  • Write and edit shareable, unique and/or service-forward product roundups as well as SEO-friendly shopping guides or reviews.

  • Track and analyze your posts using affiliate analytics.

Who You Are

  • Genuine love for the internet and online shopping

  • Firm understanding of the Buzz Feed audience and voice

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Ability to handle critical feedback and improve from it

  • Flawless spelling, grammar, and usage in your writing

  • A positive, curious, playful disposition with a sense of humor

Use of artificial intelligence or an LLM such as ChatGPT during the interview process may be grounds for rejection of your application.

To Apply:

  • Instead of a formal cover letter, please discuss your shopping habits (for example: what do you always buy in-store vs. online, how do you find a good deal, what ~special tricks~ do you use that most people don’t know about, etc.)

  • Tell us about a couple of products you’re obsessed with

  • Create a Buzz Feed.com/community profile, and create two shopping posts (if doing a roundup, no more than five products needed for each). *We encourage you to check buzzfeed.com/shopping to see examples of Buzz Feed Shopping content. *DO NOT PUBLISH YOUR POSTS. You must submit links to those two drafts in the box below.

  • Attach a resume — keep it to one page!

Note: Buzz Feed Inc. offers remote/flexible work (unless specified to be required to be in-person) and open to hiring remote candidates who are residents in the following states: CA, CO, CT, DC, DE, FL, GA, IL, KY, MA, MD, MI, MS, MT, NC, NH, NJ, NM, NY, OH, OR, PA, TX, VA, and WA. For non sales roles, we can also hire in AR, AZ, KS, MO, SC, and VT.
