As part of the ERP function, you will lead the build and delivery of enterprise data solutions whilst we transition from our legacy ERP estate to SAP RISE. This role is pivotal in crafting our data strategy across SAP and non-SAP ecosystems, enabling robust data integration, analytics, and data product development & ensuring we build an enduring architecture. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in SAP data sources and a strong understanding of modern data platforms including data warehouses and lakehouses across a multi-cloud system landscape.
Let me tell you about the role
We are seeking a lead data architect with hands on experience on architecting & designing integrated data solutions that enable extract, load, transform (ELT) of SAP data as well as non-SAP data to enable delivery of enduring data products that encourage self-service and re-use across SAP BWs, Databricks, AWS & Azure native data platforms & Palantir Foundry & ensuring they are cataloged and discoverable. The ideal candidate should have extensive experience working in rollouts of global SAP ERP programs, building a roadmap that defines the end state & interim states for delivering data products & governing the develop & delivery of the data solutions throughout the journey of the ERP program.
The candidate should also have general experience of processes and the data it transacts or references across multiple SAP application components from Finance, Procurement, Asset Management, Logistics, Sales & Distribution, Manufacturing, Material Management & IS-OIL.
The candidate should also possess an understanding of data governance tooling, how they would be used to catalog & provide lineage, enforce implement quality rules & carry out data policies.
Key Accountabilities
- Part of a cross-disciplinary team, working closely with functional ERP architects, data engineers, platform engineers, data scientists, data managers and process experts.
- Build and implement scalable data architectures that span SAP systems of record (SAP ECC, S/4HANA), SAP data platforms (BW/4HANA, SAC, Datasphere, Business Data Cloud), and non-SAP data platforms (Databricks, MS Fabric, PowerBI, AWS Glue, AWS Redshift)
- Develop conceptual, logical, and physical data models to support business intelligence, analytics, and data product initiatives.
- Design data integration solutions using tools such as SAP Datasphere, SLT, Azure Data Factory, Databricks Lakeflow and AWS native data integration patterns.
- Design operational analytics on SAP S/4HANA Embedded Analytics
- Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to define pain points, working with vendors & surveying markets for potential solutions & authoring data architectures and how the architecture evolves
- Designing proof of concepts to prove out architectures and working closely with delivery teams to execute them
- Ensure data products are integrated into data governance tooling such as Alation, Collibra or SAP Datasphere to ensure quality, governance, and security across all data assets.
- Has an understanding of GDPR or equivalent data privacy legislation and how to design data solutions to remain compliant
Essential Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant field.
- Professional certification, master’s degree, or extensive relevant work experience.
Certifications:
- SAP BW/4HANA, Power BI Certified Application Associate, Fabric Data Engineer Associate, Databricks Data Engineer Associate (preferred)
Essential Experience and Job Requirements:
- 10+ years of experience SAP BW/4HANA, SAP HANA SQL, ABAP
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
- 8+ years of experience in data architecture, with significant exposure to SAP data platforms.
- At least 1 end to end large-scale S/4HANA implementations & migration project
- Strong expertise in SAP ECC, S/4HANA, BW/4HANA & CDS Views
- Proven experience integrating SAP and non-SAP data sources into unified platforms.
- Hands-on experience with cloud data platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS), lakehouses (e.g., Databricks), and modern data tools.
- Hands-on experience with building analytic solutions both SAP (e.g. BW queries, SAC) and non-SAP (e.g. PowerBI)
- Proficiency in data modeling, SQL, and data pipeline design using Spark
- Familiarity with data governance frameworks and metadata management tools such as Alation, Collibra or SAP Datasphere
- BONUS: Hands on data engineering experience with SAP Business Data Cloud
- BONUS: Hands on data engineering experience with Palantir Foundry
