We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced National Sales – Defense Applications to significantly accelerate our revenue growth within the expanding defense sector across Oceania. In this strategically important role, you will be responsible for actively marketing our relevant portfolio of hydraulic and automation products and solutions, ensuring all activities strictly adhere to internal guidelines and specific export control requirements.
This position can be based out of Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth.
Strategic Sales & Business Development: Drive our business growth in the defense industry by actively identifying, qualifying, and pursuing new business opportunities across end-users, OEMs, integrators, and major defense prime contractors. Conduct thorough market analysis to pinpoint emerging trends, customer needs, and competitive landscapes, deriving concrete growth plans with specific goals and milestones.
Relationship & Account Management: Build and maintain strong, long-lasting relationships with key decision-makers, both internally and externally, including relevant trade organizations. You will strategically develop our existing top accounts, identify new business areas, and serve as the primary point of contact and trusted advisor for our defense business in Oceania. Manage a robust sales pipeline using our CRM system, ensuring accurate forecasting and regular progress reporting.
Technical & Solution Expertise: Develop a deep technical understanding of our hydraulic and automation product portfolio and its specific applications in defense. Collaborate closely with our application experts and internal teams (Sales, Engineering, Production etc.) to design and present tailored solutions. Effectively articulate our value proposition and technological differentiators in customer meetings, product demonstrations, and industry events.
Compliance & Contract Management: Ensure strict adherence to all export controls, foreign trade regulations, and internal governance. Working in collaboration with our contracts department, you will manage the entire sales cycle – from needs and potential analysis, quotation, sales closure, to long-term customer development. This includes conducting price negotiations and coordinating contractual matters, as well as navigating complex government contracting and procurement regulations.
Education: Completed technical degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a comparable qualification (e.g., in Industrial Engineering, Mechatronics).
Experience and Expertise: Several years of professional experience (ideally 5+ years) in technical field sales, preferably within the defense industry or with military goods. Alternatively, significant experience in a military function with a strong understanding of procurement processes. Proven track record of developing new business and managing key accounts within a complex sales environment.
Personal Attributes and Working Style: A passion for sales with excellent communication skills, adaptable to various situations and target groups. Confident and professional demeanor with highly persuasive and excellent negotiation skills. Ability to independently structure and prioritize tasks, demonstrating a strategic relationship manager mindset. Meticulous, goal-oriented, and results-driven working approach.
