Job Summary

Database Migration Consultant to plan, design, and execute database migrations from on-premises and legacy environments to cloud or modern platforms. The consultant will work closely with customers, application teams, and infrastructure teams to ensure secure, high-performance, and reliable database migrations with minimal downtime.

Primary Skills (Must Have)

Database Technologies

• Relational Databases: SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL

• NoSQL Databases: MongoDB, Cassandra (good to have)

• Data Warehousing platforms (Teradata, Snowflake – good to have)

Cloud & Migration

• Cloud platforms: Azure and AWS (basic)

• On-premises to cloud database migration

• Hybrid cloud migration experience

• Understanding of IaaS and PaaS database models

Migration & Assessment Tools

• Database assessment and migration tools (cloud-native or third-party)

• Backup & Restore, Replication, and Data Sync methods

• Schema conversion and data validation techniques

ETL & Data Engineering

• ETL / ELT concepts

• Data warehousing fundamentals

• Experience with data pipelines and integration tools

Scripting & Automation

• Scripting: Python, Bash, PowerShell

• Automation tools (Ansible, Terraform – good to have)

Secondary Skills (Good to Have)

• Performance tuning and query optimization

• High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) design

• Security:

Data encryption (at rest & in transit)

Access controls and role management

Backup and retention strategies

• CI/CD and version control (Git, DevOps tools)

• Monitoring and logging tools

Educational qualification:

B.E/B.Tech/MCA or equivalent
