About the opportunity
Boeing Defence Australia is shaping the future of multiple air, land and sea platforms which is delivering critical capability for the Australian Defence Force. Boeing Defence Australia is seeking a P4 Principal Project Engineer to support the delivery of the Wakulda Air Battle Management System.
Reporting directly to the Wakulda Engineering Manager the Project Engineer will take responsibility for coordinating the complex, concurrent, and interdependent capabilities and enhancements to Wakulda. Demonstrated Systems and Project Engineering experience coordinating solutions in complex development programs is required for this role.
The preferred location for this role is Brisbane, however, Newcastle (Williamtown) will be considered.
Key responsibilities include:
- On behalf of the Engineering Manager undertaking planning and coordination of execution across multiple Teams. This includes planning for development approval, deployment, integration and verification, while coordinating with internal and customer stakeholders.
- Undertake the development and technical review of program plans including Build Plans, Product Roadmaps, Engineering Management Plans, Specialty Engineering Plans, Integration Plans, and Support System Plans.
- Managing the lifecycle of technical risks, issues, and opportunities related to system architecture, engineering development processes, and engineering design. Including the development and coordination of execution of mitigation plans.
- Estimating, planning and scheduling of complex developmental work scopes covering multiple disciplines including Systems Engineering, Product Support Engineering, and Specialty Engineering.
- Mentoring, coaching, and guiding technical staff across Systems Engineering and Product Support Engineering Disciplines.
- Applicants must be an Australian Citizen and hold, or have ability to obtain, an NV1 security clearance.
To be successful you will be able to demonstrate:
- Minimum of 9 years of experience in complex technical development and integration projects.
- Demonstrated technical leadership qualities, and the ability to provide technical guidance to several teams representing multiple skill areas delivering technical solutions to our customers.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to engage, influence and negotiate with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders and customers.
- Strong understanding of Systems Engineering principles and lifecycle management, particularly those that unpin the Australian Standard for Defence Contracting (ASDEFCON) suite.
- Experience in the estimating, planning, managing and reporting progress of technical work scope is essential.
