The Opportunity

Boeing Defence Australia (BDA) is seeking an experienced Senior Technical Officer - Avionics to join our P-8A Poseidon engineering team supporting the Royal New Zealand Air Force (RNZAF). This is your chance to work on one of the world's most advanced maritime patrol aircraft — delivering engineering solutions that keep New Zealand's Poseidon fleet safe, mission-ready and at the cutting edge.

Why this role is exciting

  • Be at the heart of operations: provide technical solutions for operational issues, and engineering investigations across the entire P-8A weapon system.
  • Real impact: your engineering artefacts and technical leadership will directly influence aircraft safety, capability and availability.
  • World-class collaboration: work with New Zealand Defence Force (NZDF) stakeholders and Boeing's global engineering community to solve high-profile technical challenges.

Location

  • Adelaide CBD

What you'll do

  • Deliver engineering sustainment support for the RNZAF P-8A aircraft.
  • Develop high quality engineering artefacts under our Engineering Management System, with opportunities to gain Engineering Authority.
  • Produce, review and evaluate technical documents, instructions and investigation reports.
  • Liaise with NZDF and industry stakeholders to identify, analyse and resolve technical issues rapidly and effectively.
  • Help build and sustain a high-performing technical support team.

What we're looking for

  • Solid aircraft technical knowledge, skills and experience (preferably defence aircraft), with a proven record of delivering technical outcomes.
  • Strong capability in analysis, reporting and identifying system risks.
  • Experience operating within a Technical Regulatory Framework (or equivalent).
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and stakeholder management experience.
  • Adaptability and initiative to provide technical support where it's needed across a broad range of Continuing Airworthiness Management (CAM) engineering activities.

What BDA offers

  • Work on cutting-edge aerospace projects across platforms and with international collaborators.
  • Competitive remuneration and annual bonus.
  • Flexible work options: work-from-home, compressed weeks, and part-time arrangements.
  • Formal mentoring, training, and on-the-job learning.
  • Paid study leave, parental leave, Defence leave and salary packaging options.
  • Health & wellbeing benefits, EAP, annual flu vaccinations and access to discounts (health, travel, accommodation).
  • Recognition programs and rich social/community engagement.
