We’re seeking a future team member for the role of Senior Director, Application Development Manager to join our Conventional Trust Platform Engineering team. This role is located in New York, NY.

In this role, you’ll make an impact in the following ways:

  • Leads a portfolio of complex, cross‑functional application development initiatives for critical business segments. Provides strategic direction and executive oversight across the full development lifecycle to deliver solutions with speed, quality, and measurable business impact.

  • Directs analysis, architecture, development, testing, and optimization of enterprise platforms across diverse technologies. Establishes engineering standards, drives modern delivery practices, and ensures systems are secure, resilient, and scalable.

  • Partners with senior business and technology leaders to define roadmaps, guide investment decisions, and deliver solutions that advance revenue, efficiency, and client experience.

  • Oversees large‑scale platform and transformation programs with disciplined governance, transparent reporting, and proactive risk management. Ensures appropriate workforce planning, vendor strategy, and resource allocation for effective execution.

  • Ensures system availability, integrity, and performance through operational excellence, strong SRE/DevOps practices, and rapid incident response and recovery.

  • Manages the operating budget with financial discipline, accurate forecasting, and alignment to strategic priorities.

  • Communicates clear, timely updates on program status, risks, and achievements to executive stakeholders, driving alignment and informed decision‑making.

  • Champions organizational change, innovation, and continuous improvement, promoting the adoption of modern engineering and delivery methodologies.

To be successful in this role, we’re seeking the following:

  • Advanced degree in computer science or related discipline, or equivalent executive‑level experience.

  • 15 plus years of progressive leadership in systems analysis, software engineering, and enterprise technology delivery, including senior management roles.

  • Demonstrated leadership in large‑scale digital transformation, platform modernization, and AI/ML‑driven initiatives, including automation, predictive analytics, or applied AI capabilities.

  • Experience in financial services—particularly Markets, Trading, or Securities—strongly preferred.

  • Proven ability to build, lead, and inspire high‑performing engineering organizations—attracting top talent, developing future leaders, and fostering a culture of innovation, ownership, and accountability.

  • Strong track record managing multiple delivery teams and driving complex execution across a matrixed enterprise.

  • Executive presence with excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.

  • Ability to partner effectively across business, architecture, operations, risk, and data/AI teams to deliver measurable enterprise outcomes.

  • Strategic thinker with a strong execution mindset—able to translate vision into roadmaps, and roadmaps into delivered, production‑ready results.

    BNY assesses market data to ensure a competitive compensation package for our employees. The base salary for this position is expected to be between $136,500 and $275,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base salary if hired will be determined on an individualized basis, including as to experience and market location, and is only part of the BNY total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, discretionary bonuses, short and long-term incentive packages, and Company-sponsored benefit programs.

    This position is at-will and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, change in geographic location, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
