Description
Efficiently ensures availability of the right parts, in the right quantity, at the right software level, for electrical parts (E/E) of the right commodity and at the right time to support TX production and/or PNW1/PNW2 and applicable Material Control targets as they align to Plant Spartanburg (TX) goals
- Performs duties within the Material Control Department to ensure material availability in all required processes/systems.
- Leads in performing data processing and parameter administration in SAP.
- Maintains a lead role in conducting control of parts availability for on-going series/launch production, parts run-in and parts run-out.
- Performs super-user for technical software/hardware changes within the scope of material analysis and minimizing obsolescence costs.
- Monitors and manages internal supply chain processes impacting part availability line side throughout multiple departments including Procurement, Engineering, Assembly and other Logistics Departments.
- Maintains and analyzes the monthly supplier rating (LPKM). Initiates corrective actions and escalations with suppliers as delegated by the specific Section Managers within Powertrain and Chassis(EA/CF), Interior (EII), Exterior (EK45), Body (EK3), Electrical (E/E), and/or Electronic and Technology (ED).
- Participates in the Logistics Process Analysis (LOPA) or VA 4.1.9 (BMW Group Quality Management Procedure) including Supplied Parts Quality Management (SPQM) launch readiness checkpoints.
- Participates actively in problem solving for supplier development and optimization of the supplier process chain and implements counter measures. Mentors and supports in training of new hires.
- Coordinates automotive supplies and stock by timely planning the correct quality, quantity, at the correct software level (if applicable) of parts to the right place, at the right time with the goal of optimizing the stock on hand.
- Performs cross checks of multiple data sources ((Global Positioning System (GPS), Technical Administration Information System (TAIS) and SAP) to ensure information integrity.
- Ensures adequate and accurate information flow to keep management informed concerning part issues, cost savings, obsolescence and improvement opportunities.
- Evaluates and makes recommendations for escalation process.
- Coordinates efforts with internal and external process partners to maintain parts supply to production.
- Interfaces with Procurement, Engineering, Physical Logistics, Assembly and Manufacturing technologies to achieve implementation of new software or engineering levels.
- Coordinates the economical transportation with freight companies to ensure timely pickup and delivery of materials with our Lead Logistic Provider (LLP) or Physical Logistics Group.
- Analyzes inventories of parts on the floor and in the warehouse and makes Material Requirements Planning (MRP) Systems adjustments as necessary to ensure accurate releases.
- Coordinates internally with all departments and vendors during build outs, design changes and/or software level changes to eliminate excess overages and shortages.
- Manages Material Requirements Planning (MRP) reports, supplier releases and delivery schedules to ensure material availability.
- Participates in flash campaigns as applicable, quality sorts, engineering changes, etc. with Assembly, Engineering, Physical Logistics, Quality and contractors including line feed situations.
- Facilitates mode of transportation changes through analysis & evaluations of alternate methods.
- Coordinates the run-in, run-out, engineering changes, software & hardware breaks and other changes as needed to support the team.
- Represents the department as a member of the commodity and participates as needed in meetings and/or campaigns to provide support and material control coordination and cooperation.
- Adheres to 5S Safety Standards and Principles.
- Performs other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
- BA/BS degree (Logistics, Business Administration, or International Business preferred) OR AA/AS degree in related field AND 2 years of professional Material Planning and Material Requirements Planning (MRP) experience OR The equivalent of 4 years of professional experience in Material Planning and Material Requirements Planning (MRP).
- 5+ years of related professional experience in Material Planning and Material Requirements Planning (MRP) in an automotive manufacturing environment.
- Lean Six-Sigma Greenbelt or Blackbelt Certification (preferred)
- APICS Certification (preferred)
- 5+ years of MS Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint, Access).
- 5+ years of professional communication skills (written, verbal and presentation).
- 5+ years of SAP skills.
- 5+ years of Project Leadership skills.
- German, Spanish, or Mandarin language skills (preferred).
