About the Role

This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities. The role is part of Global Supply Chain Engineering and Make-Buy Optimization team, where we will be engineering the future of Make-Buy decisions for scalability and resilience. The role is responsible for developing and executing the company's make versus buy strategy to optimize cost, quality, risk, and schedule (when and where). This role will lead a team of engineers and analysts that will execute cross functional evaluations of internal manufacturing capabilities against supplier options; ensuring sourcing decisions align with business objectives, operational efficiencies, and long-term operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead cross-functional make-buy analyses for spacecraft and launch vehicle systems, considering technical, financial, schedule, and strategic factors
• Conduct make-buy analysis of parts, assemblies, and processes
• Assess internal manufacturing capabilities vs. supplier capacity and expertise
• Collaborate with engineering to ensure manufacturability and cost efficiency
• Partner with procurement and supplier quality to identify and qualify suppliers
• Document and communicate make-buy recommendations with data-driven justifications
• Support continuous improvement of manufacturing and sourcing strategies

Qualifications

• Engineering degree with experience in aerospace, manufacturing, or systems engineering
• 5+ years of aerospace manufacturing processes and supply chain dynamics
• Strong analytical skills and experience with project management
• Excellent cross-functional collaboration and communication abilities
• Knowledge of strategic sourcing concepts and supplier relationship management

Background Check Requirements

• Blue's Standard Background Check Required for all positions
• Defense Biometric Identification System (DBIDS) background check if at any time the role requires one to be on a military installation
• Drivers who operate Commercial Motor Vehicles with a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW), Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) or combination of power unit and trailer that meets or exceeds 10,001 lbs. and/or transports placardable amounts of hazardous materials by ground in any vehicle on a public road while in commerce, may be subject to additional Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations including: Driver Qualification Files, Medical Certification (obtained before onboarding), Road Test, Hours of Service, Drug and Alcohol Testing (CDL drivers only), vehicle inspection requirements, CDL requirements (if applicable) and hazardous materials transportation/shipping training
• Ability to obtain and maintain Merchant Mariner Credential, which includes pre-employment and random drug testing as well as DOT physical
