Jobs
Bloomberg News is one of the biggest financial and business news organizations in the world. We lead the way in breaking news and providing analysis on financial markets, from daily coverage through to in-depth features. We are known for our quality, accuracy and ability to deliver news investors can use. It’s what keeps us inventing and re-inventing, all the time.
Bloomberg News is seeking a well-sourced, experienced and collaborative reporter to lead coverage of the intersection of money and power in the United Arab Emirates, home to more than $2 trillion in sovereign wealth.
Dubai and Abu Dhabi are locked in an intensifying rivalry to become the Middle East’s preeminent financial and business hub. Dubai is positioning itself as a center for private wealth and global finance, while Abu Dhabi’s sovereign wealth funds, state-backed firms and royal family–linked conglomerates are deploying vast resources to pursue marquee deals, reshape industries, diversify the economy and expand the country’s influence on the world stage.
This role calls for a reporter with strong news judgment and deep sourcing who can consistently work across and break news on a wide range of topics, including sovereign wealth funds, opaque private investment firms, major mergers and acquisitions, and the influx of international capital into the UAE.
Beyond daily news, the reporter will anchor and contribute deeply reported enterprise stories on themes such as private credit, alternative investments, and the evolving ties between the Middle East, Wall Street and global investors. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, works seamlessly with colleagues across regions, and brings ambition, rigor and curiosity to one of the most consequential finance beats in the world.
This role can be located in our Dubai or Abu Dhabi bureaus.
We'll trust you to:
- Deliver exclusive interviews and original reporting on the most powerful figures and institutions shaping the region’s financial ambitions.
- Collaborate with colleagues across deals, energy and government to break news and deliver a global perspective to our audience
- Generate smart enterprise pieces, and make sure the team owns the biggest stories
- Boost the profile of the team internally and externally as well as expand our contributions to TV, radio, podcasts, magazines, newsletters, the website and social media
You will need to have:
- At least five years of experience as a reporter covering business news
- Strong writing skills, with a particular focus on accuracy, precision and speed
- A track record in breaking news and developing sourcing
We'd love to see:
- Knowledge of regional wealth funds, politics, deals and financial markets
- Be innovative and think creatively about ways to make our content accessible to a diverse audience of business-savvy readers
