Bloomberg News is one of the biggest financial and business news organizations in the world. We lead the way in breaking news and providing analysis on financial markets, from daily coverage through to in-depth features. We are known for our quality, accuracy and ability to deliver news investors can use. It’s what keeps us inventing and re-inventing, all the time.
Bloomberg News is seeking an ambitious, highly sourced reporter to join our EMEA Private Credit team in London. This is a high-impact role focused on the rapidly evolving world of direct lending, where you will be responsible for breaking news on both mid-market and large-cap deals.
The private credit market has moved from the fringes of finance to the center of the global capital markets. We are looking for a journalist who can navigate this opaque landscape, cultivate a deep network of sources among alternative asset managers, and break news on the industry’s most significant transactions.
We'll trust you to:
- Deliver market-moving scoops on deal mandates, fundraising, and distressed situations across the EMEA region.
- Build and maintain relationships with key players, including private equity sponsors, debt funds, and restructuring advisors.
- Go beyond the "who and how much" to explain why a deal matters, exploring shifts in documentation, pricing, and the competitive tension between private credit and syndicated loans.
- Work closely with our global credit, finance and deals teams to provide comprehensive coverage of the most complex financing structures in the market.
You'll need to have:
- At least five years of financial journalism experience.
- A consistent record of cultivating high-level sources and breaking news under deadline pressure.
- Exceptional writing skills, with the ability to file quickly, clearly, and accurately.
- Technical fluency, including a deep understanding of leveraged finance, alternative credit, and corporate debt structures.
We'd lto see:
- A strong understanding of credit markets, specifically direct lending and leveraged finance
- A proven track record of breaking news in a fast-paced environment.
- The ability to write with speed, accuracy, and clarity for a sophisticated terminal audience. That includes translating highly technical, complex credit issues into compelling journalism.
- A reporter who is equally comfortable diving into a technical term sheet as they are working a room at an industry conference.
- Fluency in a second European language (French, Spanish, or German preferred).
