About this role
The Aladdin Product Group develops and supports every facet of Black Rock’s information system’s needs. Our global teams perform a wide variety of activities from maintaining system stability to growing the features and functionality of our state-of the-art trading and asset management platform, Aladdin. The breath of our responsibilities calls for a diverse range of expertise.
Team Overview
The Aladdin Product Group, Post Trade Applications team provides technology solutions to support investment accounting, performance measurement, cash, asset reconciliation, Derivatives & Client Reporting. The team is responsible for a suite of applications including performance calculation engines, client and ad hoc reporting systems, reconciliation and data publication tools.
Job Purpose
Build Out Commercial Capabilities for Client Reporting Production on Aladdin
Role Responsibility
Responsibilities include:
- 80% development of strategic systems around the Client Reporting distribution & notification capabilities and 20% providing 2nd line of support for technical and/or operational issues encountered
- Understand and refine business and functional requirements
- Provide ongoing development maintenance of existing application functionality, working closely with the client support teams to address issues that are escalated for resolution
- Work with team members in multi-office, multi-country environment
- Continuous communication of technology decisions, issues and plans to senior team members
- Deliver high level of client service through responsiveness and accuracy
Specific activities:
80% Development
- Developing and maintaining existing Client Reporting distribution & notification platform, tools and processes, including participation in tactical and strategic development projects
- Working alongside project managers, UX designers, technical leads and business analysts throughout the SDLC cycle
- Code new business functionality in the system, specifically in the Client Reporting distribution & notification space, to meet business and customer requirements, working closely with end-users, client operations staff, and other Aladdin development teams
20% Production support
- Providing 2nd line of support for technical and/or operational issues encountered
- Help the team conduct end-to-end UAT tests to ensure production operations run successfully during monthly cycles
- Provide ideas for process enhancements that will result in development projects
Experience
- Experience working with Java Script, HTML5/XHTML, Bootstrap, CSS, SCSS, JSON, j Query, Ajax and XML
- Experience working with Angular highly preferred.
- Experience working with modern Java Script frameworks like Vue, React, Svelte
- Working knowledge of UI testing frameworks like Jest/Karma and e2e frameworks like Cypress/Playwright
- Experience working with Java, responsive design, cross-browser and cross-device support.
- Experience with other web technologies like REST, SOAP, JSP, etc. is highly desired.
- Experience with design and implementation of sites, workflows, and dashboards.
Desired Qualifications
- At least 3-4 years of building frontend experience required.
- Optimize the web front end for maximum speed and scalability.
- Be innovative and share ideas as we evaluate new or alternative front-end techniques to determine their usefulness in meeting project needs and deadlines.
- Experience working with global project teams spread across several time zones is a must.
- Strong teamwork, communication skills and time management abilities.
- 4-year degree, CS degree or equivalent experience.
- Demonstrated thought leadership around new and cutting-edge technologies.
