About this role

The Team

Digital Wealth is the fastest‑growing client segment and distribution channel within Black Rock’s EMEA Wealth business, driven by the rapid growth of self‑directed investors and digitally enabled investment platforms. To capture this opportunity at scale, Black Rock has established a dedicated EMEA Digital Wealth business, bringing together expertise across Distribution, Marketing, and Client Partnerships.

The Digital Distribution team leads Black Rock’s sales and partnership efforts across the Digital Wealth client segment and manages relationships with leading digital investing platforms across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. This includes online brokerage platforms, fast‑growing digital disruptors, and the digital channels of incumbent and multi‑channel banks. The team’s mandate is to accelerate growth by expanding access to Black Rock’s investment solutions through scalable, technology‑enabled distribution models.

The Role

We are seeking a Director, Senior Sales & Business Development to join the Digital Distribution team for Continental Europe. This role will focus on developing and managing strategic relationships with multinational digital investing platforms, while working closely with the central Digital Wealth and Proposition team and regional Digital Sales Leads to drive local distribution, commercialization, and partnership opportunities. The role will be based in either Munich, Frankfurt, or another location within Continental Europe.

The successful candidate will be responsible for originating, structuring, and scaling new strategic partnerships across Europe, leveraging Black Rock’s full platform - including investment products, models, services, technology, and infrastructure capabilities. A core component of the role is to build and deepen long‑term client partnerships and co‑develop solutions in collaboration with infrastructure partners and broader ecosystem players, enabling holistic, pan‑European partnership models and investment solutions.

This role offers the opportunity to operate at the intersection of investment expertise, technology, and distribution, and to play a key role in shaping Black Rock’s Digital Wealth strategy across Continental Europe.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain deep, senior‑level relationships with multinational digital platforms, in close collaboration with local Digital Sales Leads, and drive end‑to‑end partnership execution.
  • Lead the execution of product campaigns across digital partners, including product education, sales initiatives, and coordinated marketing activities.
  • Continuously refine Black Rock’s approach to partnering with digital distribution platforms to ensure market leadership and scalable, collaborative distribution models.
  • Identify, structure, and escalate regulatory and distribution‑related challenges, assessing their commercial impact and exploring viable alternatives.
  • Co-develop solutions and partnership propositions with infrastructure partners and ecosystem players.
  • Lead partnership renewals in close collaboration with internal stakeholders; own processes related to budget approvals, contracting, and invoicing.
  • Work closely with local Digital Distribution Sales teams to review partnerships, identify opportunities to expand scope, and surface key challenges and priorities.
  • Drive strategic initiatives related to the expansion of the Digital Wealth business across Europe.

Experience and Skills

  • 10+ years of experience in financial services sales, ideally within fintech partnerships, digital brokerage, and/or asset management.
  • Deep understanding of the Digital Wealth and self‑directed investment market, including digital platform business models (online brokers, incumbent banks, fintechs, robo‑advisors) and the broader ecosystem.
  • Strong awareness of regulatory developments and their implications for digital distribution.
  • Demonstrated expertise across the full sales lifecycle, from origination to long‑term relationship management.
  • Strong commercial mindset with excellent presentation and communication skills.
  • Comfortable operating at the intersection of entrepreneurial, fast‑moving environments and global institutional frameworks.
  • Highly collaborative, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders, ask targeted questions, and drive alignment across functions.
  • Solid understanding of investment products, particularly ETFs and active funds, and the competitive landscape.
  • Demonstrates creativity, intellectual curiosity, and a strong ownership mindset; a self‑starter who consistently goes beyond expectations to deliver impact.
  • Willingness to take full accountability for unlocking the long‑term potential of the Digital Wealth segment.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required (Master’s degree preferred) in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Strong client and sales orientation with high standards of quality and execution.
  • Languages: Fluency in written and spoken English is required. Additional European languages, especially German, are a strong plus.
  • Advanced PowerPoint and Excel skills, with the ability to create tailored, high‑impact presentations and extract insights from complex datasets.

Competencies

  • High‑energy, positive “can‑do” attitude with the ability to operate independently while being a strong team player.
  • Confident presence, comfortable engaging with clients and colleagues at all levels of seniority.
  • Actively promotes collaboration and inclusivity across teams and partners.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both German and English.
  • Thrives in a fast‑paced environment; demonstrates attention to detail, urgency, and resilience under pressure - especially in high‑visibility situations.
  • Acts consistently in line with Black Rock’s values and standards.
  • Proven ability to manage complex, cross‑functional projects in a structured, inclusive, and deadline‑driven manner.
