Description

The Head of Japan i Shares Distributionwill be responsible for developing and executing a detailed sales strategy for both institutional and wealth clients in Japan. The role will report to the APAC Head of i Shares Distribution and work closely with internal stakeholders across our platform.

Responsibilities

  • As the Managing Director and Head of Japan i Shares Distribution, the candidate will be responsible for leading a team of i Shares ETF specialists, formulating and executing an ambitious strategy to expand and further transform our business across institutional and wealth clients.

  • Develop, manage and strengthen relationships with Banks, Insurers, Pensions, Official Institutions, Asset Managers, Securities Firms, Digital Platforms

  • Raise the profile and usage of i Shares products within the targeted client base.

  • Deliver AUM and revenue targets for the business within the channels in the Japan Business.

  • The role will partner closely with key stakeholders including but not limited to Client Business, Global Product Solutions (GPS), Financial Institutions Group (FIG), Insurance Solutions, Global Markets and Marketing

  • In partnership with stakeholders, articulate and formulate a strategy to evolve Black Rock’s existing local ETF product set, formulate a distribution strategy for offshore ETFs, drive campaigns and business solutions and project-manage strategic initiatives to further build up the Firm’s brand awareness amongst the clients and prospects.

  • Ensure the distribution strategy is closely aligned to the market environment to capitalize on investment trends, regulatory tailwinds, tactical portfolio shifts etc

  • Ready a plan around digital assets to ensure Black Rock’s pioneering role in developing this market segment can be executed when the Japan market is ready.

  • Represent the Japan i Shares business regionally and globally – articulating and socializing the strategy, accountability for results.

  • Partner with the public policy team to improve ETF adoption in Japan and promote wider access including working with the regulator.

  • Represent Black Rock in the industry through public speaking and organizing industry events/forums

  • Embed of culture of excellence in the way we serve and partner with our clients

Qualifications

  • 15+ years of extensive financial industry experience in client facing roles with a primary focus on institutional relationships. Additional experience in wealth markets highly preferred.

  • Preference for capital markets background with roles involving senior relationship management / product strategy / portfolio management / structuring.

  • Strong track record of cultivating relationships with C-suites and possess appreciation of navigating complexities.

  • Proven track record of accelerated commercial growth and scaling businesses.

  • Experience of working for international organizations with a multinational matrix environment

  • Excellent executive communication skills

  • Effective team player who is accustomed in working with global, regional and local stakeholders.

  • Strong experience of managing a team as a player-coach

  • Highest standard of ethics

  • Language skills: Japanese/Native, English/Strong proficiency in both written and spoken business English
