In Core UI Engineering, you’ll work on systems that operate at global scale and evolve the foundations of our web platform. This includes building reliable, performant user experiences, shaping shared frameworks, and increasingly exploring how AI‑assisted workflows can accelerate how we design, code, and deliver value. We are evolving toward purpose driven, outcome oriented product engineering, where humans guide and validate AI generated output while taking full responsibility for product, engineering, and business outcomes.

As part of Aladdin Engineering, and specifically our Core UI engineering efforts, you will help build the next generation of our web platform. This includes:

  • Modern UI frameworks used by thousands of users

  • Highly scalable micro‑frontend architectures

  • Performance‑critical components powering real‑time portfolio decisions

  • Developer tooling that improves reliability, observability, and speed

  • Early experimentation with AI, workflows assisted code generation and testing

  • Evolving standards and best practices for teams across the company

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Collaborate with colleagues across UK, US, India, and other global offices.

  • Build highly available, resilient, and performant frontend systems and frameworks used by thousands of users.

  • Contribute to the evolution of Aladdin’s multi‑asset trading and portfolio management capabilities, using AI to accelerate domain learning and solution design

  • Shape product direction together with Product, Design, and Engineering leadership.

  • Mentor and guide frontend engineers, helping cultivate a culture of curiosity, inclusion, and technical excellence.

  • Work in an Agile setup where autonomy, ownership, and accountability matter.

  • Use AI proactively from day one, both as a development accelerator and as a tool you validate and refine to ensure highquality outcomes.

  • Ability to combine generalist problemsolving with strong engineering fundamentals, guiding AI tools while retaining human ownership of outcomes.

  • Design elegant solutions from idea to production, with strong engineering discipline and early foundations to keep human and AIgenerated code reliable, clear, and free of technical debt.

What We’re Looking For:

  • AI 1st engineers, who has experience using AI development tools

  • 7+ years of professional software engineering experience.

  • Strong hands-on proficiency with TypeScript, JavaScript, Angular and React.

  • Deep understanding of web performance, rendering patterns, application security, and modern frontend architectures.

  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP).

  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, DevOps tooling, or Azure DevOps.

  • Experience leading project teams or owning significant system components.

  • Ability to translate business needs into technical solutions with clarity and practicality.

  • Comfort working in fast-paced, high-complexity domains.

  • Ability to use AI to support designthinking and architectural decisions, defining patterns and measurable SLO/NFR targets for highquality engineering outcomes.

  • Curiosity about AI‑augmented engineering, workflow-driven automation, or practical AI productization.

Nice to Have / Great to Learn Here

  • Experience working in an agile development team or on open-source development projects.

  • Knowledge of Core Java, design patterns, and distributed systems fundamentals.

  • Exposure to optimisation problems or quantitative systems.

  • An OSS footprint, engineering certifications, or anything that shows deep mastery of the craft.

  • Interest in shaping patterns for AI generated code quality, maintainability, and lifecycle safety.

Our hybrid work model

Black Rock’s hybrid work model is designed to enable a culture of collaboration and apprenticeship that enriches the experience of our employees, while supporting flexibility for all. Employees are currently required to work at least 4 days in the office per week, with the flexibility to work from home 1 day a week. Some business groups may require more time in the office due to their roles and responsibilities.
