About This Role:

As the Global Markets Team Lead, you will be a senior subject matter expert in employee relations, responsible for overseeing Biogen's global markets to ensure that PR principles, policies, and processes are executed successfully and aligned with both market-specific labour considerations and Biogen's operational ethos. Your global experience will be pivotal in providing strategic and proactive thought partnership with Legal, HR, and Business leaders across various markets, delivering both a local and global PR impact perspective. In this role, you will serve as a liaison between PR and global market leaders, collaborating actively with PR colleagues to maintain visibility of global actions and market-specific practices. Leveraging your knowledge of labour practices across global markets, you will consult, provide guidance, engage stakeholders, and develop tools to scale PR support and knowledge. Additionally, you will monitor and assess external employee relations trends, utilizing both internal and external data for guidance and proactive mitigation actions.

This role can be based remotely in the UK or Ireland, with occasional travel to the office as required.

What You’ll Do:

  • Act as a global subject matter expert on People Relations issues, including policy, procedures, best practices, leaves, disability, performance management, and labour matters.

  • Monitor and analyse global and market-specific trends and legal updates to guide leaders on proactive actions.

  • Advise and consult on cross-border issues across global markets.

  • Provide guidance and coaching to HR Leaders in assigned markets, ensuring capability and best practices in performance management.

  • Conduct, lead, or guide complex investigations, ensuring alignment with investigation protocol, processes, and market-specific labour considerations.

  • Collaborate with internal and external legal counsel on employment-related matters and documents, serving as a Company representative in assigned markets.

  • Establish credibility, maintain relationships, influence, and ensure visibility across relevant stakeholders and the PR team.

  • Develop and implement tools and trainings to ensure scalability, proactive risk mitigation, and PR capability internally and with external stakeholders.

  • Identify interdependencies and coordinate critical stakeholders to ensure holistic and proactive PR review of actions while maintaining central PR visibility.

Who You Are:You possess an insightful understanding of global labour regulations and bring a wealth of experience in diagnosing complex issues and implementing effective strategies. Your outstanding interpersonal skills enable you to interact diplomatically with employees at all levels, clients, and vendors. You are adept at influencing and guiding executive leaders on sensitive issues while considering diverse viewpoints. Your ability to translate complex risks into clear explanations and actionable items is exceptional, and you communicate effectively in English and at least one other language of the region.

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required, Master’s degree preferred

  • Extensive, progressive HR experience, including experience of employee relations or HR Partnering in multiple global markets; including experience providing guidance to senior management and investigating and responding to employee issues, global RIF/Re-Orgs and experience with work council consultations and collective bargaining.

  • Extensive knowledge of global labour regulations in multiple markets, preferably including U.S. and Europe.

  • Experience in independently diagnosing, isolating, and resolving complex issues while recommending strategies to resolve problems.

  • Outstanding interpersonal skills for diplomatic interaction with all levels of employees, clients, and vendors.

  • Experience in interacting with and influencing executive leaders on complex, confidential, and sensitive issues.

  • Experience with cross-cultural team leadership and collaboration.

  • Ability to diplomatically influence while considering all viewpoints.

  • Ability to translate complex risks and labour considerations into clear explanations and tangible action items.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and at least one other language of the region.

Preferred Skills:

  • Proven track record in developing and implementing effective training programs.

  • Familiarity with data-driven decision-making processes.

  • Bilingual preferred
