Project Overview:

Bechtel helps customers deliver projects of purpose that create a lasting positive legacy globally. These large, complex, and multi-disciplined projects create jobs, grow economies, and provide opportunities for local and regional communities.The Eva Copper Mine Project is a greenfield resource poised to become the largest new mine in Queensland, Australia. It is located in Cloncurry on the traditional lands of the Kalkadoon people. The Project is owned by Harmony, a world-class gold and copper mining and development company with assets in South Africa, Australia, and Papua New Guinea.Bechtel is delivering the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) scope for the Eva Copper Process Plant and Non-Process Infrastructure. Bechtel is providing these EPC services across all disciplines and functions for this exciting capital project

Job Summary:

In this role, you will assist in interpreting and integrating environmental, health and safety requirements into project planning, design, construction, and operations. You will provide input and technical guidance, assist with communications, track performance trends, and conduct inspections and monitoring. Your work will help keep employees safe by contributing to continuous improvement of project health and safety.  

Major Responsibilities:

• Provides assistance in a wide variety of Environmental, Safety, and Health (ES&H) disciplines to facilitate implementation of Bechtel's ES&H program and ES&H Management System to include aiding compliance with Bechtel's ES&H standards, applicable regulatory requirements, and contractual commitments 
• Assists in the development, implementation, and maintenance of programs, systems, and procedures necessary for the safety and health of employees and protection of the environment and communities 
• Maintains ES&H databases, inclusive of incident events, audit/assessment findings, and corrective actions 
• Performs statistical analysis of ES&H data to help identify performance trends and contributing factors as part of continuous improvement 
• Helps identify and coordinate any unique software systems and electronic innovation used by ES&H personnel 
• Leads teams in conducting risk assessment, studies, mitigation planning, and monitoring in response to ES&H issues 
• Prepares communications, writes reports, and prepares documents for program execution and records retention 
• Assists with incident notifications, leads investigations, and prepares incident investigation reports 
• Recommends and implements improvements in processes, procedures, and work activities to minimize hazard potential 
• Participates in and supports employee training, emergency preparedness, and quality assurance programs 
• Supports ES&H recognition programs 
• Researches issues and provides regulatory interpretation and technical advice 
• Provides support to ES&H field and office personnel, inclusive of all ES&H disciplines 

Education and Experience Requirements:

Typically requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) related to occupational safety or health and 8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

•  Proficiency in assisting construction with development of risk assessments and associated job hazard analysis.
• Intermediate knowledge and use of Microsoft software applications.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Be solution orientated with effective and efficient time management to deliver a quality product.
• Proficiency in assisting construction with development of risk assessments and associated job hazard analysis.
• Ability to work in a diverse team environment.
