THE ROLE:

As a Senior Software Engineer on the Core Product team at Baseten, you'll be building and maintaining the core Baseten product, enabling users to deploy & get value from ML models as easily as possible. As a developer-oriented product, we have a massive surface area, including all of our CLI tools, REST APIs, and the web application. The Core Product team is at the forefront of all new product development at the company.

You'll get to work on these types of projects as part of our Core Product team:

  • Chains for multi-component workflows https://www.baseten.co/blog/baseten-chains-explained/

  • Asynchronous inference https://www.baseten.co/blog/using-asynchronous-inference-in-production/

  • Model APIs for frontier models https://www.baseten.co/products/model-apis/

  • Model training built for production inference https://www.baseten.co/products/training/

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Own and lead projects and areas of the product

  • Mentor & develop junior engineers

  • Design ergonomic APIs and abstractions to solve customer problems. Enable more junior engineers to do the same

  • Fix bugs & resolve customer issues with urgency

  • Drive long-term improvements to improve reliability of systems and velocity of development

  • Work closely with the product & forward deployed engineering teams to develop and drive new product ideas

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science or related field

  • 5+ years experience building software applications

  • Deep knowledge of the web stack & databases

  • Good taste in product, particularly developer-oriented tools

  • Interest in ML/AI infrastructure and willingness to learn

  • Strong collaboration and communication skills
