As the Lead Deployed Transformation Engineer, you will play a key role in driving the design, development, and delivery of technology solutions that improve how Avis Budget Group operates. As part of the Transformation organization, you will help shape the next generation of applications that enable smarter decisions, better efficiency, and stronger business outcomes.
The solutions you build will be used by thousands of people across our global operations, powering daily work and decisions at every level of the company. In this role, you’ll guide both the technical direction and the collaboration between our engineering and business teams. You’ll work closely with stakeholders across the company to identify challenges, prototype and refine solutions, and help scale them into production-ready systems.
This is not a traditional engineering role. It’s a chance to shape how a global business operates. You’ll be on the front lines of innovation, working side by side with operators, analysts, and executives to turn ideas into scalable systems that power the next era of Avis Budget Group.
What You'll Do:

Build solutions that are intuitive, reliable, and truly adopted by end users – ensuring the tools you create deliver real value in day-to-day operations

Collaborate with business and operations teams to understand workflows, identify opportunities for improvement, and define technical requirements

Lead technical solution development for complex business challenges, from concept through deployment

Improve and build upon existing production systems, guiding the team through operationally engrained workflows and enhancements

Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and other team members, fostering best practices in design and development

Ensure scalability and sustainability of solutions by working with IT and enterprise technology teams to move from prototypes to production

Support user adoption through clear documentation, training, and communication

What We're Looking For:

Bachelor’s Degree in an engineering field such as Computer Science, Data Science, Operations Research, Physics

3+ years of professional experience solving complex, real-world problems in a customer-facing or business-facing environment using technology and data-driven approaches

Demonstrated ability to lead development of end-to-end software products — from concept through design, deployment, and scaling

Proficiency in Python, Java, or TypeScript/JavaScript and familiarity with modern frameworks and development tools

Proven track record of engaging directly with business stakeholders, translating complex requirements into actionable solutions

Excellent communication skills; able to bridge technical and non-technical discussions effectively

Comfortable working in ambiguous, fast-paced environments and prioritizing for maximum business impact

Willingness to travel 10–25% to collaborate with field teams and support deployments

Experience leading cross-functional engineering projects in transformation, analytics, or operations technology (Preferred)

Familiarity with full-stack web development and progressive web application design (Preferred)

Strong understanding of system design principles, security, and performance optimization (Preferred)

Prior experience in a consulting, forward deployed, or hybrid engineering/business role (Preferred)
The annual starting salary for this position is between $125,000 - $155,000 annually. Factors that may affect starting pay within this range include geography/market, skills, education, experience, and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
