Autodesk Civil 3D design software is used to plan, design, and deliver land development, water, and transportation projects, and empowers civil engineers and professionals to meet complex infrastructure challenges in a 3D model-based environment. Our Civil 3D Product team is establishing a brand-new R&D center in Pune, India, and we are seeking a highly motivated and innovative Senior Engineering Manager to lead our efforts. The candidate will be responsible for hiring and onboarding the new team, fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation, and building a center of excellence at the Pune site. The ideal candidate will need to have a strong technical background, exceptional leadership skills, and a strategic mindset to drive innovation and deliver high-quality software projects.
Responsibilities
- Team Leadership: Recruit, coach, and develop a high-performing team of software engineers. Provide clear guidance, regular feedback, and support career growth
- Technical Oversight: Direct the design, implementation, and maintenance of features, components, and cloud services, ensuring technical excellence
- Project Management: Collaborate with product management and stakeholders to define project scope, objectives, and deliverables. Develop release plans that deliver meaningful customer value
- Strategic Planning: Formulate and execute long-term strategies that align with organizational goals
- Continuous Improvement: Champion best practices in engineering, including code quality, testing, deployment, and monitoring
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Foster trust and effective collaboration with globally distributed teams, including DevOps, to ensure seamless product delivery
- Customer Focus: Advocate for end-users by ensuring the team’s output meets high standards for performance and usability
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field
-
10+ years of experience in software engineering, with 5+ years in a managerial role

Proven experience as a technical lead in large-scale software development, with successful completion of multiple full development cycles

Solid hands-on experience in C/C++, C#, .Net, etc

Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills, with a track record of making impactful technical decisions

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders

Effective collaboration and interpersonal skills, with experience working in scaled Scrum teams and driving cross-team progress

Experience in establishing and building new teams or R&D centers

Ability to motivate and inspire a team
Preferred Qualifications

Background or education in the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) industry

Experience with cloud services and web technologies

Knowledge of databases (Oracle, SQL Server, SQLite)

Practical experience with AI technologies, frameworks, or platforms

Experience with test-driven development and behavior-driven development is a plus
