We are seeking a Senior C++ Backend Engineer to join our Product Design and Manufacturing Solutions division. In this role, you will help build and integrate C++ components with cloud-based services, support modern API workflows, and collaborate with engineers across backend, cloud, and frontend teams. You will contribute hands-on expertise in C++, gain exposure to cloud technologies, and help develop the next generation of services that power Fusion’s capabilities.

This role is ideal for candidates who have strong C++ experience and are eager to broaden their skills into cloud, microservices, and modern web-connected architectures.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable, robust, and performant software solutions.
• Collaborate with cloud and backend teams to integrate C++ modules with services built on Java Spring Boot, Node.js, or other technologies.
• Write clean, reliable, maintainable code following best practices, testing standards, and modern development patterns.
• Contribute to API integration logic, including serialization, request/response handling, and supporting service communication.
• Perform code reviews, debug issues, write documentation and provide technical feedback to maintain high engineering quality.
• Debug and troubleshoot issues, using logs, stack traces, and diagnostics to resolve integration and performance problems.
• Collaborate with architects, product, UX, and QA teams to deliver high-quality features in an iterative environment.
• Learn and apply cloud fundamentals (AWS) as part of integrating C++ features into backend workflows.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies, contribute to planning, estimation, and iterative delivery.
• Promote a culture of candor, technical curiosity, teamwork, inclusion, and continuous improvement.
• Stay current with modern backend, cloud, and web technologies, and expand technical breadth and depth as the platform evolves.

Minimum Qualifications

• B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• 4+ years of professional software development experience, with strong hands-on expertise in modern C++ (14/17/20+).
• Solid working knowledge of modern C++ development, including STL, common containers, algorithms, and basic memory and threading concepts.
• Experience with C++ build systems and tool chains
• Basic understanding of JSON, REST APIs, and service communication patterns
• Basic understanding of backend technologies such as Node.js or Java Spring Boot for service integration.
• Basic understanding of AWS concepts or enthusiasm for learning cloud-based development.
• Comfortable reading simple JS/TS code and making minor adjustments when needed.
• Experience with modern IDEs such as Visual Studio, CLion, or Xcode.
• Experience working in Agile/SCRUM teams.
• Experience with Git/GitHub and modern code control systems.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience integrating C++ with cloud-based systems or microservice architecture.
• Exposure to Docker, containers, or CI/CD pipelines and automated build/test practices.
• Familiarity with Node.js native addons, gRPC, or Web Assembly is a plus.
• Awareness of AI-assisted tooling (GitHub Copilot, code generation tools).

Salary is one part of Autodesk’s competitive compensation package. Offers are based on the candidate’s experience and geographic location.
