Position Overview
As a Business Intelligence & Insights (BII) Intern, you’ll join Autodesk’s APM Business Intelligence and Insights team, which delivers analytics support and actionable insights across the business. This summer internship is based in Montreal. In this role, you’ll help embed AI into day-to-day analytics by transforming recurring stakeholder questions into AI-powered, self-serve tools—making it easier to discover key metrics, interpret what they mean, and take informed action.
You will partner closely with analysts, marketers, product managers, and operations stakeholders across regions. Through interviews and rapid prototyping, you will design and build solutions using technologies such as Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT and Power BI. You'll also explore how AI can unlock insights from unstructured customer feedback using AI, text analytics and sentiment analysis.
Responsibilities
- Stakeholder discovery: interview team members and stakeholders to understand roles, workflows, and pain points; translate findings into prioritized problem statements and success metrics.
- AI for analytics enablement: design and build AI-assisted experiences that help users self-serve answers (e.g., natural-language Q&A over web metrics, guided metric definitions, dashboard summarization and experimentation readouts).
- Tool building and integration: prototype and deliver usable tools (web apps, share-outs, Power BI reports, or chat-based interfaces) and document how to use them; iterate quickly based on feedback.
- Data grounding and evaluation: connect tools to trusted data sources (e.g., Snowflake, Adobe analytics platforms, Power BI datasets); implement guardrails, logging, and lightweight evaluation.
- Text analytics exploration: mine Salesforce case and chat text fields for themes, sentiment, and emerging issues; create dashboards, central data repositories or recurring insight summaries for stakeholders.
- Communication: present demos and recommendations; create training materials that improve AI and data literacy for partners.
Minimum Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in analytics, computer science, engineering, statistics, math, business administration (including an MBA), or a related field.
- In your final year of studies, and available for a summer internship based in Montreal, QC.
- Professional proficiency in English and French.
- Working knowledge of SQL, Excel and Power BI and basic data analysis concepts (joins, aggregation, data models, trends).
- Interest in applying AI/LLMs to real business problems (e.g., Copilot, ChatGPT-style tools) and willingness to learn new technologies quickly.
- Strong communication skills and comfort collaborating with diverse, globally distributed partners.
Preferred Qualifications
- Intermediate to advanced SQL; experience with Microsoft tools such as Power Automate, Power Apps, and automation.
- Exposure to building small tools or apps (e.g., Power BI, or Teams/Slack bots).
- Familiarity with LLM concepts such as prompt design and evaluating model outputs.
- Experience with text analytics/NLP (sentiment analysis, topic modeling, or classification) and working with unstructured data.
- Ability to think outside the box.
- Comfort translating ambiguous stakeholder needs into clear requirements and an execution plan.
Learning Benefits
- Collaborate with a high-performing team of analysts and cross-functional partners, with ongoing mentorship and feedback throughout the internship.
- Work with best-in-class, modern analytics and AI tools (e.g., Power BI, Snowflake, Adobe Analytics, Salesforce data, and AI assistants such as Copilot and ChatGPT-style apps).
- Develop strong foundations in data modeling, SQL querying, data quality validation, and data-driven storytelling.
- Gain hands-on experience applying AI to analytics workflows—such as metric discovery, dashboard summarization, and insight generation—with an emphasis on accuracy, usability, and responsible use.
- Learn how a global Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) business measures, monitors, and optimizes growth and customer experiences—an approach increasingly adopted across industries.
- Experience Autodesk’s collaborative culture and globally recognized brand while contributing to tools and insights stakeholders use every day.
