Role Summary:
- Join athenahealth as a Member of Technical Staff
- Full Stack Developer at the Associate level, based in Chennai, India, working in a hybrid model. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to innovative software solutions that impact healthcare delivery. The position reports directly to the Senior Manager Engineering
- SME.
Team Summary:
The R&D - Data Ecosystem Platform – Data Services Engineering team is dedicated to building stable, scalable, timely, and reliable products and platforms that enable seamless data exchange between athenahealth and external systems. This work supports a variety of workflows and use cases critical to the company’s growth and the delivery of exceptional customer experience. The team focuses on creating robust data services that empower healthcare providers with accurate and timely information, driving better clinical and business outcomes.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain full stack applications using Java, React, Node JS, Python, Perl, JavaScript/jQuery, C# etc. – but must be ready to learn and work hands-on in any language need-basis
- Design and implement microservices architectures leveraging AWS cloud services for scalable and resilient systems.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, design solutions, and deliver features that meet business needs.
- Optimize application performance and ensure security best practices are followed throughout the development lifecycle.
- Participate in code reviews, testing, and continuous integration to maintain code quality and reliability.
- Troubleshoot and resolve software defects and production issues promptly to minimize impact on users.
- Contribute to technical documentation and knowledge sharing within the team.
Additional Job Responsibilities:
- Support the evaluation and adoption of new technologies and tools to improve development efficiency.
- Mentor junior developers and provide technical guidance to peers.
- Assist in defining and improving development processes and best practices.
- Engage in team planning and sprint activities to ensure timely delivery of projects.
- Participate in architectural discussions and contribute to long-term technology strategy.
- Collaborate with product management and quality assurance teams to ensure alignment on deliverables.
- Contribute to open-source projects or internal tools that enhance team productivity.
Expected Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 2 to 4 years of professional experience in software development with a focus on full stack technologies.
- Proficiency in React, Java, Node JS, Python, Perl, JavaScript/jQuery for building web applications.
- Experience with AWS cloud services and microservices architecture.
- Strong understanding of software development lifecycle, agile methodologies, and DevOps practices.
- Ability to work effectively in a hybrid work environment and collaborate with distributed teams.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
