Position Overview

The Web Proxy Platform Architect & Engineer serves as a technical leader, responsible for designing, engineering, and deploying advanced web proxy solutions across on-premises and cloud environments. This role requires deep expertise in policy creation, system integration, and administration of leading

proxy technologies, with a strong focus on security, scalability, and operational excellence. The successful candidate will demonstrate exceptional leadership in guiding cross-functional teams and fostering a collaborative environment to achieve strategic security objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Collaboration:

  • Lead architecture and engineering efforts for web proxy platforms, setting technical direction and mentoring team members.
  • Champion collaboration across Information Security, Engineering, Governance, and Operations teams to develop, refine, and enforce security policies and best practices.
  • Facilitate stakeholder engagement to ensure alignment of proxy solutions with business requirements and risk management goals.

Solution Architecture & Engineering:

  • Architect, engineer, and implement comprehensive web proxy platforms, including SSE CASB, SWG, and ZTNA.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to deploy new web proxy solutions across the enterprise.
  • Integrate proxy platforms with other security solutions and data sources for seamless protection and visibility.

Operational Excellence

  • Develop and transition operational procedures (MOPS) for configuration, maintenance, and ongoing support of proxy solutions.
  • Lead advanced troubleshooting and root cause analysis for complex, multi-platform network issues.
  • Provide development support for expanding and implementing new systems.

Security Management & Automation:

  • Engineer, deploy, configure, and maintain web proxy solutions, ensuring optimal performance and security.
  • Develop advanced alerts, reports, and custom dashboards in SIEM for investigations and stakeholder requirements.
  • Automate security tool management and workflow integration to improve efficiency.
  • Create and implement best practices for proxy rules and signatures to mitigate threats.

Required Qualifications/Technical Expertise

  • Minimum 7 years of experience in cybersecurity engineering, with a focus on configuring, operating, and managing both premise and cloud-based forward proxies.
  • SME-level proficiency with Forcepoint Web Security, Palo Alto Web Proxy, Prisma Access, Broadcom, and Squid.
  • Strong understanding of web applications, platforms, firewalls, frameworks, and protocols related to application development and operation.
  • Advanced knowledge of TCP/IP, web protocols, networking concepts, and attack vectors.
  • Expertise in log analysis, data correlation, packet capture, and script writing using mainstream languages.
  • Senior-level understanding of PKI technology and familiarity with open-source and commercial security tools.
  • Familiarity with applying Artificial Intelligence (AI) or Machine Learning (ML) techniques in cybersecurity contexts (e.g., anomaly detection, threat hunting, behavioral analytics, or risk scoring).

Cyber Defense & Incident Response:

  • Solid grasp of incident response processes and prior experience in cybersecurity operations.

Education & Certifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, information security/systems, or equivalent experience.
  • Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, SANS GIAC, GWEB, or equivalent.

Professional Skills:

  • Proven leadership and mentoring abilities, with a track record of building and guiding high-performing teams.
  • Excellent communication skills, including technical documentation, metrics presentation, and architectural design.
  • Ability to perform under pressure and urgent circumstances.
  • Self-reliant, diligent, and committed to task completion.
  • Effective collaborator and team player, able to work with geographically dispersed teams

Education/Experience:

Bachelor’s degree (BS/BA) desired in Computer Science or Cybersecurity. 7+ years of related experience. Certification is required in some areas.

Our Principal Cybersecurity earns between $155,400-$233,200 USD Annual not to mention all the other amazing rewards that working at AT&T offers. Individual starting salary within this range may depend on geography, experience, expertise, and education/training.
