As a Software Engineer at Applied Materials, you'll dive deep into ground-breaking technologies-like machine learning and AI-to craft novel software solutions that solve our customers' high-value problems. Our Software Engineers are responsible for designing, prototyping, developing, and debugging software solutions for semiconductor equipment components and devices to ensure quality and functionality. You'll develop software documentation and test procedures, troubleshoot software problems, and communicate with internal customers to understand project requirements. As part of our team, you'll contribute your expertise in intricate systems, deciphering code, and anticipating software behaviors to ensure Applied remains the leader in the semiconductor and display sectors.

Role Overview We are looking for a Junior PLC Software Develope r to design, develop, and maintain software solutions for industrial automation systems and semiconductor equipment. This role combines PLC programming with object-oriented software development, offering hands-on experience in installation, configuration, and troubleshooting while collaborating with global teams to deliver high-quality projects.

  • Key Responsibilities

  • Design, prototype, and develop moderately complex software solutions for industrial automation and semiconductor equipment.

  • Develop and maintain PLC software applications (preferred: TwinCAT - Beckhoff).

  • Create common software modules and libraries for use across multiple products.

  • Prepare software documentation and test procedures.

  • Support commissioning and troubleshooting activities on-site.

  • Communicate with internal and external stakeholders for requirements analysis, project scheduling, and software troubleshooting.

  • Analyze and resolve software issues; design and implement bug fixes.

  • Collaborate with global teams to ensure smooth project execution.

  • Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software/System Engineering, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Mathematics, or related field.

  • English proficiency: Fluent in speaking and writing.

  • Solid knowledge of PLC programming languages (preferred: TwinCAT - Beckhoff).

  • Proficiency in C/C++, .NET, C#, operating systems, networking principles, algorithms, and multi-threading.

  • Willingness to travel frequently national and international.

  • Hands-on attitude and ability to work directly with tools and hardware.

  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Basic understanding of object-oriented programming principles.

  • Familiarity with industrial automation concepts and drive systems.

  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics.

  • Knowledge of high-level programming languages (C++, C#) is a plus.

  • Strong conceptual understanding of software engineering and eagerness to learn.
