As a Mechanical Engineer, you'll leverage your strong foundation in physics, mathematics, and materials science to process and resolve mechanical problems, design and implement custom mechanical tooling and associated processes, and enable the handling, assembly, and disassembly of parts, components, sub-assemblies, and final assemblies throughout the product life cycle. You'll be responsible for designing, developing, and modifying mechanical engineering layouts, schematics, and specifications. You will oversee manufacturing and installation processes, ensuring adherence to industry standards and regulations-- and you'll coordinate the procurement and assembly of mechanical components and equipment for design projects, identifying sources of critical parts and subsystems to resolve technical issues.
Position Description: Liaison with the Design and Manufacturing Engineering Departments to understand requirements for their assemblies or testing and provide a solution to carry out the operations with custom design of Tooling Fixtures, material handling systems fulfilling Applied Materials Ergonomics standards.
Key Performance Indicators:
- Problem identification and troubleshooting a wide range of complex mechanical problems in assembly, testing etc.
- Will be responsible for the design, development and implementation of custom material unit handling system, fixturing, and associated processes to enable the handling, assembly / disassembly of parts, components, sub-assemblies and final assemblies throughout the product life cycle. Establishes standards across all operational processes. Serves as technical expert on specialized projects or programs.
- Technically execute engineering projects by developing it with the AMAT associated suppliers.
- Interface with internal and external customers regarding mechanical issues for specific project.
- Implements concepts for range of difficult product issues and solutions.
- Specify, supervise the development of, design, or modify engineering layouts/schematics and/or detailed drawings/specifications of complex scope.
- Generate product and test specifications.
- Provide mentoring for less experienced engineers.
- Define / Create requirements for the material handling units which includes the architecture/concepts and validation.
- Specify and perform engineering calculations & analysis of complex scope like custom designed parts and OEM selection.
- Define, coordinate, perform, and generate engineering test reports.
- Specify and review engineering documentation.
- Ensure fulfillment of material handling unit design requirement with a quick turn around time.
- Present ideas/drawings developed for alternative approach
- Co-ordinate with vendors for various developments and solving any issues.
- Knowledge necessary to perform job includes: Thorough knowledge of mechanical engineering design, mechanics, and material science concepts and techniques, including proficiency in solving engineering problems using analytical techniques. Basic general knowledge of electrical engineering disciplines; working knowledge of CAD tools; understanding of product and business requirements; and general knowledge of appropriate materials, components and technologies used in the semiconductor equipment industry.
Qualification:
Required: Degree / Masters in Mechanical / Industrial Engineering with all above criteria's.
Desirable: Engineering or Equivalent with sound knowledge of Mechanical engineering and material handling or automation fixture design.
Experience:
No of years: Experience of 6-10 years or above in which at least 3-4 years in design and development of SPM's, Assembly Line Automation, Fixture Design in a development or manufacturing organization.
Specific experience requirement:
- Should have 4-5 years in design of commercial parts / SPM assemblies / material handling units / Automations.
Skill sets Required:
- Sound Knowledge on automated fixture Design, Material Selection, Machining and Fabrication process and post processing operations.
- Hands on experience in creating specification on mechanisms and choosing right OEM's to compliment the specified mechanism.
- Thorough knowledge in calculations to define structures/loads, choose the right OEM's and its accessories in the market. Example
- Linear Guides, Casters/wheels, motors, gearbox, bearings, lifting hoist accessories etc.
- Good knowledge on using sheet metal applications wherever necessary.
- Pro-efficient in creating manufacturing drawings, defining tolerances with GD&T. Certification on GD&T will be added advantage.
- Pro-efficient in UG NX is an added advantage
- Pro-efficient in Structural Analysis
- Hands on Ansys or Nastran is desirable.
- Hands on Manufacturing. Techniques.
- Good Presentation and Negotiation Skills.
Desirable: All the above required skills with hydraulics / pneumatics / mechatronics knowledge will be an add advantage.
