We're looking for an exceptional Engineering Manager to lead our backend engineering teams powering critical Finance and Enterprise Systems. In this pivotal role, you'll guide talented engineers across multiple global locations to build and scale the systems that drive Apple's enterprise operations. You'll shape technical strategy for mission-critical applications, architecting solutions using micro-services, modern data stores, and cloud-native technologies. As both a technical leader and people champion, you'll foster a culture of excellence, mentor world-class engineers, and deliver secure, scalable solutions that power Apple-scale finance operations.

We're looking for a visionary, hands-on Engineering Manager to lead our backend engineering teams and shape the future of our Finance and Enterprise Systems. In this high-impact role, you'll manage distributed teams across multiple global locations, overseeing the development and evolution of critical systems that power Apple's enterprise operations.
You'll drive technical excellence in micro-services architectures while championing best practices in security, scalability, and operational excellence. From MySQL and Oracle to MongoDB, from Kubernetes orchestration to cloud-native deployments on AWS or GCP, you'll guide your teams to build robust, high-performance solutions. Your deep understanding of API integrations, data feed architectures, and enterprise security patterns (authentication, authorization, encryption) will be essential as you navigate complex technical challenges.
Beyond the technology, you'll be a people leader-building high-performing teams, developing engineering talent, and creating an inclusive culture across geographies and time zones. You'll partner closely with Finance stakeholders, translating business requirements into technical roadmaps and ensuring your teams deliver solutions that meet stringent compliance and security standards.","responsibilities":"Leads and mentors distributed engineering teams across multiple global locations to deliver mission-critical Finance and Enterprise systems.
Drives technical strategy and architectural decisions for microservices-based backend systems, APIs, and data integrations.

Establishes and enforces best practices for security, authentication, authorization, and compliance across all systems.
Builds high-performing engineering teams through hiring, career development, and fostering an inclusive culture across geographies.
Oversees system reliability, performance optimization, and operational excellence for databases (MySQL, Oracle, MongoDB) and cloud infrastructure.
Guides technical decisions on cloud platforms (AWS/GCP), Kubernetes deployments, and DevOps tooling.
Manages resource planning, project prioritization, and cross-functional dependencies to ensure the timely delivery of business objectives.
Preferred Qualifications:
Track record of building and scaling engineering organizations from the ground up
Deep understanding of financial systems, compliance requirements (SOX, PCI-DSS), and audit controls
Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code (Terraform, CloudFormation), and Git Ops practices
Strong architectural skills with experience making build-vs-buy decisions and technology selections
Knowledge of event-driven architectures, message queues (Kafka, RabbitMQ), and asynchronous processing
Familiarity with observability platforms (Datadog, Splunk, Prometheus/Grafana) and SRE practices
Experience driving technical migrations (monolith to microservices, on-prem to cloud, database migrations)
History of developing senior engineers into technical leads and managers
Minimum Qualifications:
10+ years of software engineering experience with a strong backend development background
5+ years of engineering management experience, including managing distributed teams across multiple geographies
5+ years working with enterprise databases, including MySQL, Oracle, or MongoDB
Hands-on experience with micro-services architecture and modern backend development practices
Strong understanding of cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and container orchestration with Kubernetes
Proven experience with API design, data feed architectures, and system integration patterns
Solid knowledge of authentication, authorization, and software security principles
Experience partnering with Product Management, Finance, Security, and executive stakeholders
Domain expertise in Finance and/or Enterprise Systems
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field

Pay & Benefits:
At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $228,100 and $342,800, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple's discretionary employee stock programs. Apple employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards, and can purchase Apple stock at a discount if voluntarily participating in Apple's Employee Stock Purchase Plan. You'll also receive benefits including: Comprehensive medical and dental coverage, retirement benefits, a range of discounted products and free services, and for formal education related to advancing your career at Apple, reimbursement for certain educational expenses - including tuition.
