Worldwide Developer Relations (WWDR) empowers developers outside of Apple to build amazing products for our platforms using Swift, Xcode and more! The WWDR Engineering team builds apps and tools to support our developer community, including the Developer app and developer.apple.com. We are a fast-paced, collaborative group working with the latest AI technologies, and are looking for an engineer passionate about services and the discipline of automated testing to validate quality. We are looking for someone who cares deeply about the quality of containerized APIs which provide services and experiences to support our incredible Apple Developer community.

Testing is a key part of building high-quality services. As a member of this team, you'll play a significant role in shaping the experiences we provide and make a lasting impact on the developer community. You will define and implement automated test systems to validate and observe the next generation of services and tools. You will be responsible for planning, crafting, maintaining and driving test cases. You will work to identify, reproduce and isolate bugs found through concise bug reporting.

In this role, you will regularly interact with engineering teams, management and other organizations within Apple, and work on complex, high-quality solutions with tight deadlines. You will need to be: a highly skilled communicator; deeply technical, organized, and creative; and motivated and passionate about achieving results through strong analytical and critical thinking.

Responsibilities

• Defining testing strategies and methodologies to ensure services are robust and easy-to-use.
• Developing and managing test data, plans, tools, pipelines, and utilities to automate continuous testing processes to catch potential regressions and improve delivery efficiency.
• Building real-time alerting, dashboards, and related reporting that provide insight on software quality and system health.
• Identifying, documenting, and tracking defects, collaborating with the team to resolve issues swiftly and effectively.
• Contributing to Infrastructure as Code process automation using Terraform, Pulumi, or alternatives.
• Writing clean, elegant, and well-tested code that meets or exceeds the standard for quality on the team.
• Participating in a culture of technical excellence, continuous improvement, and constructive feedback in code reviews.

Minimum Qualifications

• 7+ years of software engineering experience
• Strong understanding of REST APIs, development lifecycles, testing methodologies, and QA processes.
• Experience developing comprehensive test plans, test cases and using automation techniques to maintain and improve software quality.
• Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills.
• Experience designing, writing, reviewing, testing or delivering services at scale.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience using design-first principles with OpenAPI to define and validate APIs.
• Knowledge of containerization concepts like Kubernetes, Docker, Open Telemetry, and others.
• Understanding of Cloud Platforms (AWS or Azure or GCP).
• Experience using Swift on Server. Familiar with Go.
• Familiarity of search index technologies.
• Experience building solutions that leverage API's from the latest LLMs.
• Demonstrated creative and critical thinking with an innate drive to improve how things work. Skilled at translating high-level goals into detailed project plans.
• Experience providing architecture and design guidance.
• BS in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent degree with at least 3 years of relevant experience
