Do you love taking on big challenges that require exceptionally creative solutions? Do you deeply understand how an incredible camera experience should work? As part of our group, you'll help design the innovative technology that allows each generation of Apple products to produce photos even more incredible than the last. You'll design and develop groundbreaking ideas for everything involved in our camera systems, from sensor to lens. You'll collaborate with teams across Apple to research, design, develop, test, and qualify camera hardware for Apple products. Together, we'll craft a magical photography experience that redefines what millions of customers can expect from their cameras. With the rapid growth of Machine Learning, supported by the fastest mobile chips in the world, cameras can capture photos and videos that are better than ever, surpassing what could be foreseen from hardware improvement, just a few years ago. These new software technologies also provide camera systems with better understanding of the surrounding world, opening a new, widely uncharted, realm of possibilities, for instance different ways to capture, represent or edit memories, or new abilities to create content for applications.

As a team member of an incubation team, you will develop future feature ideas into proofs of concept and prototypes, and then contribute to transform them into products that will surprise and delight millions of customers all over the world. In particular, you'll take on the challenge of applying innovating machine learning solutions to enhance the video experience on our devices, and finding the right trade-off between quality and performance on very power constrained devices. You'll work with hardware and software teams to optimize the end to end data flow, and identify blocks that can be reused and accelerated by hardware customization. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, an excellent problem solver, and a faster learner. You are comfortable working in a dynamic multi-functional environment, quick to establish relationships and comfortable with changes and ambiguities. You will bring software expertise to a highly interdisciplinary team, and work with many dedicated engineers to build high-quality features in Apple products.

Preferred Qualifications:

Demonstrated ability in taking initiative to solve problems without explicit directions, and delivering results under tight engineering schedules.

Excellent oral and written skills for clear reporting of data analysis and conclusions.

Experience in specifying and creating datasets for a particular task.

Self-driven and passionate for camera technologies, as well as prototyping and productization.

Ability to learn quickly and become familiar with multiple technology areas.

Minimum Qualifications:

MS degree with 6 years relevant proven experience.

Development experience in image or video processing.

Experience on CV/ML development framework.
