UIKit Team Manager

About the Role

Do you want to help define the future of app development on Apple platforms? Join the UIKit team and help shape the APIs and components used by millions of apps across iOS, i PadOS, and beyond. When you work here, you don't just ship features - you influence how developers around the world build and experience apps. We're a small, passionate team driving big impact across the entire Apple ecosystem.

You will be managing a small team of talented UIFramework engineers. You and your team will be responsible for some key areas of UIKit and related UI frameworks. Your team will be developing new features and fixing regressions across multiple platforms and releases. You will be involved in feature work and team planning and will also be expected to do some hands-on development. You will work with SPE leadership and the program management team to ensure that your work makes it into the build with a high level of quality. You will keep an eye on system maintainability and performance. You will help create testing tools and procedures that contribute to this endeavor. You will also be a steward of the new APIs and SPIs that are developed. Finally, you will be expected to work closely with HI on new designs that are being developed from release to release.

UIKit powers nearly every interface you see on i Phone and i Pad - from touch and event handling to animation, text, layout, and high-level components like UICollection View, UIHosting Configuration, and UIGesture Recognizer. As part of the UIKit team, you'll collaborate closely with Human Interface designers and partner frameworks, and help deliver the next generation of UI technologies. You'll work side by side with internal teams to create APIs that inspire developers and power incredible experiences. If you're motivated by clean architecture, thoughtful design, and making software that millions depend on every day - we'd love to hear from you.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 3+ years of hands-on UIKit or SwiftUI development experience on iOS
  • Strong proficiency in Swift (Objective-C familiarity a plus)
  • Desire to leverage your skills and experience to manage and direct a team of strong engineers
  • Clear communication and collaborative problem-solving skills
  • Solid understanding of software development workflows and practices
  • Solid understanding of debugging, profiling, and performance optimization

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
  • Background in framework-level rather than application-level development
  • Knowledge of UIKit on other platforms (e.g. visionOS, Catalyst, Car Play)
  • Management Experience
