About Anthropic
Anthropic’s mission is to create reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems. We want AI to be safe and beneficial for our users and for society as a whole. Our team is a quickly growing group of committed researchers, engineers, policy experts, and business leaders working together to build beneficial AI systems.
About the role
As the Beneficial Deployments Marketing Lead at Anthropic, you will be the strategic architect of our social impact marketing efforts, positioning Claude as the trusted AI partner for global nonprofits, higher education institutions, life sciences researchers, and organizations focused on public health and economic mobility. This is a pivotal role that requires deep understanding of the social impact ecosystem combined with the ability to craft compelling narratives around AI's potential to benefit underserved communities worldwide.
You'll serve as the dedicated marketing interface for our Beneficial Deployments team—a large, cross-functional team dedicated to working to ensure AI benefits reach communities that need it most. Working closely with product, partnerships, sales, and communications teams, you'll bring partnership launches, features, and impact stories to market while ensuring cohesive messaging across diverse, mission-driven verticals and audiences.
This role demands someone who can set vision and strategy while being hands-on with execution—from launching product capabilities like Claude for Nonprofits and sector-specific MCP integrations, to quarterbacking demand generation campaigns that drive adoption across grantmaker organizations, operating nonprofits, research institutions, and beneficial deployments in emerging markets. Working at the intersection of AI ethics, global development, and growth marketing, you'll help shape industry conversations around responsible AI deployment while driving measurable pipeline and impact results.
This is an opportunity to define how AI reaches and benefits the communities that need it most—supporting our ambitious reach and impact goals.
Responsibilities:
Develop and execute comprehensive marketing strategy for Beneficial Deployments across key verticals, with global remit: nonprofits, higher education, life sciences/public health, and economic mobility
Craft differentiated positioning and messaging for distinct audiences within each vertical—from grantmaker foundations, operating nonprofits, scientific research institutions, workforce development partners, and mission-driven technology organizations
Lead go-to-market for product and solution launches including sector-specific SKUs (e.g., Claude for Nonprofits), relevant MCP integrations (LMS platforms, nonprofit, scientific research tools, etc.), and accessibility features
Partner with communications on executive thought leadership regarding AI's potential to benefit underserved communities, including flagship announcements in the context of key initiatives such as Claude for Life Sciences and Claude for Global Health
Drive thought leadership initiatives including impact reports and case studies that quantify Claude's real-world benefit (e.g., SROI measurement)
Design and execute demand generation campaigns for scaled programs including AI for Science grants, nonprofit accelerator cohorts, and grantmaker partnership programs
Identify and prioritize key conferences across social impact, global health, education, and nonprofit sectors and coordinate strategic presence and speaking opportunities
Write and refine copy for solutions pages, campaign materials, and partner-facing content across segments
Partner with design on visual assets that resonate with mission-driven audiences across US and global markets
Work with our integrated campaigns and social team on Beneficial Deployments-related content calendar and posts that highlight impact stories and partnership announcements
Build and maintain tracking infrastructure to measure campaign performance across channels (e.g., nonprofit verification flows, partner referrals, cohort conversions)
Enable sales and partnerships teams with enablement materials, outbound campaigns, and pipeline-driving initiatives for nonprofit enterprise accounts and higher education institutions
Support co-marketing initiatives with corporate philanthropic partners and government partnerships
You may be a good fit if you:
Have 8+ years of marketing experience with meaningful exposure to the social impact, nonprofit, higher education, or tech-for-good space
Have experience in a .org or social impact function at a B2B enterprise company or at a mission-driven technology organization serving nonprofits, education, or public sector
Possess a balanced skill set combining product marketing/messaging expertise with demand generation and campaign execution
Demonstrate proven success in both strategic vision-setting and hands-on execution (comfortable building decks, managing multi-channel campaigns, owning pipeline metrics)
Have experience marketing across multiple audience segments simultaneously—comfortable tailoring messaging for C-suite foundation executives, nonprofit program managers, government officials, and researchers
Are comfortable in a 0-to-1 environment—can build processes where none exist and thrive in ambiguity across diverse verticals
Show expertise in navigating sensitive topics around AI ethics, equity, accessibility, and responsible deployment in underserved contexts
Possess exceptional communication and storytelling skills, with ability to translate complex AI capabilities into compelling impact narratives
Excel at cross-functional collaboration—comfortable being the connective tissue between product, sales, partnerships, communications, and marketing teams
Are a quick learner who can absorb context on complex programs rapidly across sectors as different as life sciences research and workforce development
Are passionate about AI's potential to benefit underserved communities while maintaining focus on responsible, equitable deployment
Strong candidates may also:
Have worked across multiple social impact verticals (nonprofits, higher education, global health, government/public sector, workforce development) and understand their distinct buying cycles and stakeholder dynamics
Possess experience marketing to international audiences, including comfort with emerging market contexts (Africa, India, Southeast Asia) and government partnerships
Have experience with partnership marketing and co-marketing with foundations, NGOs, corporate philanthropic arms, and government agencies
Show proven track record of building marketing programs from scratch at a growth-stage company
Have established relationships within social impact conferences (Skoll, SOCAP), education conferences (EDUCAUSE, ASU+GSV), or life sciences/public health communities
Demonstrate experience launching enterprise products with tiered pricing or discount programs (similar to nonprofit SKU launches
Have background in impact measurement, program evaluation, or working with organizations like IDinsight on SROI methodologies
Show success managing multiple concurrent campaigns across diverse program areas and geographies
Possess experience with both enterprise sales-assisted motions and product-led growth strategies in mission-driven contexts
Have exposure to life sciences research, public health systems, or workforce development ecosystems
Have experience with AI or machine learning technology marketing

How we're different
We believe that the highest-impact AI research will be big science. At Anthropic we work as a single cohesive team on just a few large-scale research efforts. And we value impact — advancing our long-term goals of steerable, trustworthy AI — rather than work on smaller and more specific puzzles. We view AI research as an empirical science, which has as much in common with physics and biology as with traditional efforts in computer science. We're an extremely collaborative group, and we host frequent research discussions to ensure that we are pursuing the highest-impact work at any given time. As such, we greatly value communication skills.
The easiest way to understand our research directions is to read our recent research. This research continues many of the directions our team worked on prior to Anthropic, including: GPT-3, Circuit-Based Interpretability, Multimodal Neurons, Scaling Laws, AI & Compute, Concrete Problems in AI Safety, and Learning from Human Preferences.
Come work with us!
Anthropic is a public benefit corporation headquartered in San Francisco.
