ABOUT THE ROLE:
Role Description:
The role is responsible for designing, building, maintaining, analyzing, and interpreting data to provide actionable insights that drive business decisions. This role will contribute as a core data science expert within Amgen’s Supply Chain analytics team. You will collaborate with data engineers, product owners, visualization developers, and business stakeholders to deliver impactful insights, predictive models, and GenAI-driven capabilities that enhance productivity, planning, and operations across Amgen’s global manufacturing and distribution network This role involves working with large datasets, developing reports, supporting and executing data governance initiatives and, visualizing data to ensure data is accessible, reliable, and efficiently managed. The ideal candidate has strong technical skills, experience with big data technologies, and a deep understanding of data architecture and ETL processes
Roles & Responsibilities:

Apply machine learning, statistical modeling, and time-series analysis to predict operational outcomes, detect anomalies, and optimize supply chain metrics

Design, develop, and maintain data solutions for data generation, collection, and processing

Collaborate with data engineers to define robust, reusable feature engineering pipelines, data quality checks, and lineage tracking

Develop and maintain data models, data dictionaries, and other documentation to ensure data accuracy and consistency

Exploratory data analysis, understand business knowledge, do feature engineering
-
Analyze data to identify trends, patterns, and correlations that can inform business strategies and decision-making
-
Apply statistical analysis and machine learning techniques to build predictive models, identify patterns, and derive actionable insights from data
-
Work with data engineers on data quality assessment, data cleansing and data analytics

Share and discuss findings with team members practicing SAFe Agile delivery model
Basic Qualifications and Experience:
-
Master’s degree and 3 to 5 years of Computer Science, IT or related field experience OR
-
Bachelor’s degree and 5 to 9 years of Computer Science, IT or related field experience OR
-
Diploma and 9 to 11 years of Computer Science, IT or related field experience
Functional Skills:
Must-Have Skills
-
Hands on experience with various Python/R packages for EDA, feature engineering and machine learning model training

Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work with large, complex datasets
-
Exposure to NLP and LLM-based tools, including embeddings, semantic search, or chatbot modeling
Good-to-Have Skills:

Strong understanding of data modeling, data warehousing, and data integration concepts

Understanding of MLOps, data validation, model drift monitoring, and retraining pipelines
-
Experience with supply chain, manufacturing, or biotech analytics use cases (e.g., lead time prediction, inventory optimization, demand/supply forecasting)
Professional Certifications:

Certified Data Scientist (preferred on Databricks or Cloud environments)

Machine Learning Certification (Optional)
