Position Summary

Amgen is seeking an experienced SAP Transportation Functional Lead to join the product team responsible for delivering end-to-end SAP TM solutions within an Agile framework. This role focuses on designing, configuring, and supporting transportation management processes using SAP TM on S/4HANA and ECC platforms.

This lead will work hands-on within a collaborative Agile team, participating in all phases of solution delivery—from gathering functional requirements and managing transportation master data to configuration, testing, and deployment. The role includes demonstrating working solutions to the team, ensuring continuous feedback and alignment with product goals.

This position requires strong expertise in transportation planning, execution, and freight management within SAP TM, including system integration with SD, MM, and EWM. Experience in both ECC and S/4HANA environments is critical. The analyst must be comfortable working iteratively, delivering frequent enhancements, and contributing to the team’s agile deliverables.

Key Responsibilities

• Gather, analyze, and document requirements for transportation planning, execution, and freight cost management
• Configure and support SAP TM solutions in both ECC and S/4HANA environments
• Design and implement transportation lane-based transportation solutions for optimized routing and cost efficiency
• Facilitate management and maintenance of transportation-related master data (e.g., routes, carriers, transportation zones)
• Collaborate side-by-side with developers to build and refine system functionalities
• Develop and maintain functional specifications for enhancements, interfaces, and custom reports
• Ensure seamless integration with SD, MM, and EWM modules and third-party logistics systems
• Lead and execute Functional Unit Testing (FUT) to validate end-to-end process accuracy
• Provide system demonstrations to showcase new functionality and gather feedback
• Support SIT, UAT, deployment, and hypercare activities
• Ensure strict adherence to Amgen’s GxP standards and documentation requirements
• Contribute to S/4HANA migration and transformation projects
• Apply BN4L (Business Network for Logistics) Best Practices for Transportation Management in S/4HANA
• Leverage analytics and reporting tools for transportation insights
• Stay up to date on AI capabilities in TM and BN4L and introduce those in Amgen solution such as intelligent carrier selection and predictive ETAs

Basic Qualifications

• Any degree with 12-17 years of experience in Information Systems, Supply Chain, Engineering, or related field
• 5+ years of hands-on functional experience with SAP TM in ECC and/or S/4HANA
• Proven understanding and application of BN4L solution for Freight Collaboration
• Strong knowledge of transportation execution, freight cost calculation, and carrier collaboration
• Experience managing transportation master data in a global logistics environment
• Demonstrated success in Agile environments
• Strong communication and documentation skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in life sciences, biotech, or other regulated industries- SAP S/4HANA implementation or upgrade experience
• Familiarity with freight settlement, lane planning, and third-party logistics integration
• Working knowledge of JIRA, ALM, Service Now, and Solution Manager
• SAP TM certification is a plus
• Exposure to AI and automation in supply chain applications

Shift Information:

This position requires you to work a later shift and may be assigned a second shift schedule. Candidates must be willing and able to work during evening shift, as required based on business requirements.
