Join the Large Market Sales Team and let's lead the way together.
Large Market Business Development Manager is responsible for researching, prospecting, cold calling, establishing meetings, driving senior level engagement both internally and externally while collaborating with other team members to sell Payment and Working Capital solutions to Large Market prospects in Canada. The right person will have the drive, and intellect to connect with multiple client stakeholders including C Suite to Program Admins. The candidate should bring experience selling Financial, IT or other Business Services to the largest companies in Canada.

- Early adopter of new technology including AI to drive insights and streamline prospecting for go to market strategies.
- Analytic and data propensity to be able to identify trends and opportunities within the prospect base and at client level.
- Financial acumen to identify the right prospect candidates to target while being able to articulate those findings to internal stakeholders and clients.
- With the support of leadership and team members the successful individual will help build out the value proposition and targeting criteria for multiple verticals.
- Ability to conduct and support the needs assessment conversation and deliver the right value proposition as required.
- Attend in person meetings or over Webex where applicable.
- Support the business in gaining market share and attaining our stretch targets/initiatives via external opportunities including strategic partnerships.
- Be familiar with and actively track competitors initiatives.
Responsibilities
- The most immediate objective is to reach out to multiple prospects to initiate a conversation, and schedule meetings.
- Create and develop C level relationships, understand financial goals and objectives, and link American Express’ value proposition.
- Collaborate with and utilize Senior Leaders to advance the sales cycle and close opportunities.
- Aggressively explore/exploit lead-opportunities within assigned territory.
- Qualify prospects for business fit, stability and qualify each potential prospect.
- Research, cold call, analyze customer stability/potential for each lead.
- Navigate through customer structure to determine company goals and decision-makers.
- Establish extensive customer relationships at executive levels and with multiple decision makers.
- Prepare presentations; manage and document selling cycle and customer information.
- Partner with card operations, sales support/pricing & technical service providers to provide best product offerings and close opportunities.
- Partner with the Sales and Account Management groups within AMEX to facilitate cross selling and lead generation opportunities.
- Learn, absorb and sell intricate Payment Solutions to increase penetration and improve account profitability.
- Be accountable, a leader and team player share best practices to secure team success and market share.
- Manage the final sales presentation process with all necessary contributors.
- Finalize contracts with all necessary corporate service functional and legal approvals.
- Lead implementation of new customer accounts with local or international account managers and the various operations groups.
- The role will be based in Vancouver, B.C. with responsibility for engaging prospects in Western Canada with added possibilities to engage throughout other Canadian provinces.
Minimum Qualifications
- Post-secondary education.
- 5+ year’s selling to the “C” Suite.
- Experience selling premium priced products to Large Corporations in Canada.
- Experience and/or exposure to financial accounting, Information Systems and procurement systems and Enterprise Resource Planning.
- Must possess strong analytical skills and financial acumen; ability to uncover process improvement/product opportunities.
- Utilizes consultative selling process to present customer-needs-oriented solutions which exceeds customer expectations.
- Demonstrates the ability to manage quickly and thoroughly through selling cycles to drive immediate wins.
- Demonstrates highly competitive nature, skillful adaptability, and persistence to drive results.
- Historically sets/achieves challenging goals and re-defines personal standards of excellence. Manages time, priorities, and projects with precision and appropriate tools.
- Persistent; takes initiative and sustains action over time, results despite obstacles/opposition.
- Establishes and leverages strong internal and external partnerships to facilitate goal achievement.
- Confidently networks and builds value-added relationships with senior executives and decision makers.
- Influences with multiple approaches, leverages personality/style differences and utilizes strong negotiation skills.
- Exceptional listener that compliments effective negotiation skills.
- Is naturally curious and is willing to take time to learn both AMEX and client’s business.
- Has drive and passion to succeed in position.
- Proficient in English, however bi-lingual in English in French would be preferred.
Hiring Range: $72,000 to $122,000 annually + sales incentive + benefits
