The Global Advertising and Brand Management (GABM) team is responsible for creating marketplace demand and driving commerce for American Express products and services through differentiated and innovative branding, marketing, and experiences. We have an ambitious goal: to be the most admired brand in the Fortune 500 and we aim to deliver on that by doing work that is both creative and effective.
The OnBrand team sits within GABM. We are American Express’ in-house creative agency. Our ambition is to develop forward thinking ideas and work across channels, end-to-end experiences in digital and beyond while building inspiring brand creative and assets to drive consideration for target audiences. We are seeking a Senior Account Manager, International, OnBrand to accelerate the expansion of the international businesses.
How will you make an impact in this role?
The Senior Account Manager, International, OnBrand will report to the Account Director and lead the international remit, managing partnerships with the UK and Canada regional marketing leaders to deliver successful campaigns with locally relevant and impactful creative and strategies. You will oversee international marketing projects end-to-end, from intake briefing through creative concepting, execution, production, launch, and post-launch -- bringing a deep understanding of local tone, cultural nuance, image resonance, and market-specific trends throughout the process. To be successful in this role, the candidate must have a growth-mindset, excellent communication skills and high EQ, a passion for delivering exceptional client service while managing and motivating direct reports.
Responsibilities include:
Client Relationship Management:
- Leverage strong interpersonal skills to foster deep client relationships, build trust, and manage the day-to-day client requests while leading and collaborating with cross-functional internal teams
- Understand marketer/product team’s objectives, goals, and target audiences within the UK and Canada to develop effective digital marketing strategies.
- Serve as a strategic partner to marketers and product teams in the UK and Canada, strengthening relationships while enabling scalable ways of working and repeatable systems that support expansion.
Digital Strategy Development:
- Collaborate with creative strategy, UX/UI, creative and other key cross-functional teams to develop comprehensive digital marketing strategies aligned with UK and Canada market objectives.
- Conduct locally relevant market research, competitive analysis, and local audience insights to inform digital campaign planning and optimization.
- Identify key performance indicators (KPIs) and establish measurement frameworks to evaluate campaign success.
Local Expertise:
- Stay up to date with the latest digital marketing trends, technologies, and marketing best practices across the UK, Canada, and comparable international markets.
- Share relevant industry insights and American Express U.S. business best practices proactively with UK and Canada based marketing partners to guidance emerging opportunities and market specific strategies.
- Guide internal teams including strategy and creative, by applying local market insights and cultural nuance throughout the creative process to ensure work in authentic, relevant and effective across markets.
Campaign Management:
- Collaborate with project management and creative to oversee the creation and implementation of compelling digital content across international markets, including ad copy, visuals, landing pages, and user experiences.
- Partner with analytics and insights teams to lead the planning, execution, optimization and performance assessment of digital marketing campaigns across regions and platforms (e.g. landing pages, display advertising, email marketing and social media) incorporating learnings to inform future market expansion.
Team Collaboration:
- Collaborate with internal and external teams, including creative, media planning, and analytics, to ensure the seamless execution of digital campaigns and post-campaign analysis to optimize performance, and maximize ROI of digital campaigns.
- Provide guidance and support to direct report(s) and project management to ensure deliverables are met and projects are executed successfully within a multi-market operating model
- Foster a positive and collaborative work environment, promoting knowledge sharing and professional development.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 5+ years in account management or brand-led marketing roles within a leading digital creative agency or in-house brand with demonstrated experience supporting international markets (preferably the UK and Canada).
- Proven experience managing relationships and delivering work across multiple geographies with the ability to navigate regional nuances and global ways of working
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and insights across markets to inform strategy and optimization
- Deep understanding of digital marketing channels, including social media, programmatic advertising, email marketing, and content marketing with experience adapting approaches for different international markets
- Proven ability to adapt creative and messaging based on cultural, regulatory, and audience considerations across regions.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills and experience managing direct reports with accountability
- Self-starter with a growth mindset and comfort operating in test and learn environments
- Experience with briefing, creation, and production process of assets for multi-channel campaigns deployed across markets
- Familiarity with comScore, CRM tools, and other analytics or competitive intelligence tools
- Ability to work with a daily Project Management tool (e.g., Workfront) in a global matrixed environment
Salary Range: $89,250.00 to $150,250.00 annually + bonus + benefits
