About Enterprise Architecture:
Enterprise Architecture is an organization within the Chief Technology Office at American Express and it is a key enabler of the company’s technology strategy. The four pillars of Enterprise Architecture include:

Architecture as Code: this pillar owns and operates foundational technologies that are leveraged by engineering teams across the enterprise.

Architecture as Design: this pillar includes the solution and technical design for transformation programs and business critical projects which need architectural guidance and support.

Governance: this pillar is responsible for defining technical standards, and developing innovative tools that automate controls to ensure compliance.

Colleague Enablement: this pillar is focused on colleague development, recognition, training, and enterprise outreach.
The Architecture As Code team is driving a new way of building web experiences for our customers. We are looking for a forward-thinking Software Engineer II who would be responsible for the end-to-end design and delivery for customer value capabilities in US and international markets. You will be hands on in designing the fundamental archiecture that powers our web frameworks like content management, search and navigation and web authoring.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
- 3+ years of hands-on software development experience.
- Proficient in one or more programming languages or platforms, with practical coding experience.
- Exposure to application design, software development methodologies, and automated testing practices.
- General understanding of distributed (multi-tiered) systems,core algorithms, and relational databases.
- Solid grasp of object-oriented design principles and experience coding in a variety of languages.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.

- Programming Languages and Frameworks – Hands on experience in some of the following:Java, Python, Go, React, Envoy, gRPC, Proto Buf, JSON, Couch Base, Cassandra, Redis, Consul, Jenkins, Docker, Kubernetes, Open Shift, Drools, Elastic Stack, Kafka, Spark

Role/Strengths You’ll Need:
- Maintain & develop new API frameworks in technologies such as REST and gRPC
- Help pivot toward serverless, FaaS based, architectures
- Build & manage platforms to help teams across the company quickly deploy A2A services
- Collaborate with technology peers and leaders to gain strategic alignment
- Foster innovation and experimentation
Salary Range: $89,250.00 to $150,250.00 annually + bonus + benefits
